Nintendo to Provide Rubbers For Your Wii

Wii
Yesterday Nintendo announced a special new accessory, the "Wii Remote Jacket," to be used in conjunction with the Wii Remote. These new covers will reportedly both serve as a protection for your Wii Remote and also provide a firmer grip to prevent from slipping out. These new protective sleeves will be bundled with all new Wii systems, but current Wii orders can receive one for free from Wii.com or nintendo.com if they can provide their Wii's serial number over the phone.

Hopefully, this should reduce the number of Wii accidents that were so widely reported following the release of the system. Nintendo claims that these new sleeves will "supplement, not replace, the basic game-play instructions: keep a firm grip, don't let go of the controller, use the wrist strap and make sure your play area is free of people or objects."

Kappa the ImpComment 1: 2007-10-03 04:58
Kappa the Imp Not nearly sleek and sexy enough for me. Much of the Wii's appeal is the style, after all.

Safe to say I won't be taking advantage of this offer, unless I hear amazing things otherwise.

Ganolink One thing that bothers me about it is the fact that danes can't order it..

Zero_HawkComment 3: 2007-10-03 07:19
Zero_Hawk I probably won't even use mine, lord knows I never used the replacement straps. I'm just a sucker for free swag.
BarrylockeComment 4: 2007-10-03 11:22
Barrylocke Meh. I doubt I'll get one. I might for the freeness, but like Kappa says, it just looks too ugly. At least its more usefull than those Tennis racket attachments for your wii though. No offense to anyone here if they have one, but I feel that if you get one of those, you deserve someone to beat you with it.

Hamedo That was a headline worthy of Fark.com, Lasz. 10/10 would read again. smile.gif

The_Pink_Nu1 lawl. Like Kappa said, they make the Wii Remote unsightly and unwieldy. I've been blessed with the phenomenal ability to hold a controller properly, so I've never tossed it through my television, although my buddy threw it into the wall the first time he played Wii bowling.

Motion seconded.

Del S So this is the future of gaming. An endless stream of knob and knob related jokes, plus a tireless wave of countermeasures to combat ballistic control pads.

Who saw that coming? biggrin.gif
SaffireWeaponComment 9: 2007-10-05 02:35
SaffireWeapon I'm a greedy bastard, I ordered 4 wii jackets! ohmy.gif
leilongComment 10: 2007-10-06 19:21
leilong Yeah, I'll probably order them just cuz I can, but I'm not going to put them on. The wii-mote needs no other phallic emphasis if you ask me.

It's just a matter of time now before someone pairs a classic controller with the jacketed wiimote to complete the look tongue.gif
Drewby2410Comment 11: 2007-12-09 07:03
Drewby2410 smart for nintendo, but it's kinda sad to see that people actually threw their wiimotes through their TV hahahaha. I mean ....yeah....
bunny_avengerComment 12: 2007-12-09 16:06
bunny_avenger I can't believe the problems people have had with the Wii...I've only played it at the Six Flags demos, but that's all you need to really know that it's not too complicated.
