It doesn't matter what Sony does at this point -- Nintendo has won E3. The lack of new IPs has been a trend in gaming lately, but Nintendo and their 2nd Parties have at least found a way to breathe new life into their existing. Kid Icarus, Kirby, and Donkey Kong have all undergone a major overhaul. And with their 3DS coming out, they have changed handheld gaming forever. Yes, there are still some bugs they have to work out with it, but I hope it will be ready by the time it launches.

Also thanks to Gabe, we have some followup indicating that Square Enix is bringing a variety of its franchises to the 3DS, too. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Chocobo Racing, and Dragon Quest are all mentioned in Nintendo's press materials. No further specifics at this time, but I assume that the web is already abuzz hoping for a The World Ends With You sequel.

Quote (Gabe @ 15th June 2010 13:10) It doesn't matter what Sony does at this point -- Nintendo has won E3. Exactly. I was at work all day and couldn't watch the conference, but I asked my friend to text me important updates from the show. By the end of the show I thought he was pranking me. I think it was "Metal Gear Solid 3 on 3DS" that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I actually sent him a pretty incredulous/pissy message, but lo and behold when I got home everything he said was true. I could not be more happy with Nintendo's E3 showing, especially after a series of pretty weak years.

Yea I watched E3 today on G4 missed Nintendo totally. Saw PS3 did nothing for me. I sometimes wonder why I got one oh yea Grand Theft Auto 4, Street Fighter 4,Sonic's Ultimate Sega Genesis Collection and last but not least Final Fantasy XIII. Was it worth it well I hardly play it and don't own FF13. But Chocobo Racing, Kid Icarus, Star Fox 64 remake on a kick butt hand held and even though it's old news 4 Warriors of Light AWESOME. Not to mention that puffy marshmallow Kirby made out of yarn. ![]() Nintendo rules

I have waited so long, and now I'm getting a new DKC game. I love that they've finally tried to revive it, because I love the series so much. So, even though it doesn't look like the originals, I'm happy.

Nearly three months old, but I posted this link in the original 3DS thread here. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10470363-17.html I love that Sony scoffs at 3D, and then tries to do the same thing in their E3 demonstrations but at a MUCH worse level than Nintendo. Great work ![]()

Wow, what a delicious press conference. A lot of content compared to last year. Although I didn't really mind enjoying the giant "Screw you guys, we're making money" from Reggie last year. Zelda is shaping up to what everyone hoped it would be, obviously. But seriously, Kirby: Epic Yarn is just about everything I love in this world ever. Highly stylized, original, fluid, Kirby... it doesn't get much better for me. Epic Mickey is going to be interesting, and Donkey Kong Country Returns looks like a stellar addition to a series I thought was 90% abandoned. The 3DS is mostly "eh" for me... I would've appreciated what looks to be an amazing Kid Icarus game to be on the Wii for a better experience. That being said, I LOVE how cheesy the game is already. Perfect use of the Pit concept. The fight is on!

Donkey Kong Country Returns gave me goosebumps! I only wish Squenix would have been more vocal concerning FF 14 and Versus!

Quote (Phunbaba @ 16th June 2010 14:36) Donkey Kong Country Returns gave me goosebumps! I only wish Squenix would have been more vocal concerning FF 14 and Versus! I don't think we'll see Versus before TGS. I don't think they have it ready to show. Also, Squenix hasn't had a public conference of their very own yet. I suspect that more from FF14 might show up sometime this week, but since beta's not open yet I suspect we'll be waiting for TGS on that one too.

I think that this is the E3 we've all been waiting for from Nintendo. Especially DKCR. I agree with Kappa, I never thought I'd see it again. But we really got everything we wanted, NBA Jam, Goldeneye, cool looking Mickey Mouse game. It was a great press conference.
