Final Fantasy XIII Dated and News Tidbits

Final Fantasy XIII
The Square Enix news tidbits for this week get a big flourish, as Squenix have just officially dated Final Fantasy XIII for North America (and, if you believe the video, also probably Europe?). The games for the two platforms will launch simultaneously on 9 March, 2010, which seems pretty fast; however, Yoichi Wada did just say the other day that the company was done with the Japanese version and was already applying just the final touches to the Western one. The official release announcement comes with a slick video as well, which you can watch at Kotaku or, probably, on Playstation Home.

If you haven't preordered yet, you certainly can - AmaCoN has not updated the release date as yet, but it surely will quite soon.

That's the big news of the day, but you might also be interested to know that Dragon Quest VI for the Nintendo DS has been officially dated for Japan, and that the first official release for the West should follow soon after; additionally, the company brought forth two more classes for Final Fantasy XIV, the Pugilist and Gladiator, silhouetted against the very same backdrop we've all already seen.

Have a good weekend, and I hope to see your Final Fantasy XIII preorders showing up in AmaCoN quite soon!

Rangers51 Actually, it comes out a few weeks before my birthday, too.

Did anyone download the video on PS Home or XBL, too? I watched part of it, and the visuals really are stunning in full HD.

mertinatron I didn't download anything but the graphics look yummy. Though if I buy the game it won't be those that make me love it. I havn't really enjoyed a FF since VII so we'll see.

FallingHeart A link to one of the more modest tributes to the series.

This one pretty much sums it up, too.

Bum Rush Blitzer Tried to post a new topic, didn't realize I'm not cool enough to start a new topic in the "News" section. FF13 box art released, take a looksee...

I think it looks great... I love the detail on the gunblade. I just got excited abot the game all over again.

[EDIT]Just noticed this... It must be cold in the SE design studios, because I'm pretty sure Lightning is nipping. Add the extremely short shorts and I like this cover even more.

Rangers51 Actually, people can submit news using the tools developed. There's a news article about it. tongue.gif

Anyway, I was going to include this in my weekly tidbits this week. I probably still will.

Bum Rush Blitzer I just noticed I posted the PAL version instead of the NA. They're all essentially the same. The PS3 versions show significantly less thigh and gunblade though. Who knew the folks at Sony were such prudes?

I'm curious to see if we get a limited edition box set offering, considering their recent popularity.

Incidentally, I don't want the responsibility of creating a new topic anyways. I usually don't check to see if anyone posted about something before I do, unless I happen upon it in my normal forum trudging. I can imagine people would be annoyed if I constantly started new topics about things already being discussed.

well ps 3 cases are much smaller than xbox ones, so instead of losing quality by scaling it, they probably just cropped it out. regardless im getting excited about the game now that its coming out moderately soon

Bum Rush Blitzer Yeah, of course. Good point.

Reminds me of something funny... I was reading some message boards and the PS3ers were making fun of the 360ers by saying, "Yeah, but one of the cases will be much heavier." Referring to the multi-disc format on the 360.

im surprised that other ps 3 owners havent realized that xbox 360 owners dont get ff versus xiii, which looks like it will be very interesting. ive seen more insults concerning the multidisk thing than that, which is bizarre

Yeah, you probably posted the PAL one because it came out first - all the news outlets grabbed that up and then edited in the American one later. With regards to the limited edition, it wouldn't surprise me much. It does seem to be the trend, and Square have obviously done it in the States before.

With regards to news, don't worry on two counts; if you don't look around a bit before posting, that's probably not smart in general, and also, if a non-staffer posts news, it has to be approved by a staffer before it goes public anyway. See?
