Final Fantasy IX Released on Steam, Mobile

Steam
We've been waiting for it for a few months, and Final Fantasy IX appeared on Steam earlier this morning. It's already the top seller for the day so far, and it's currently listed at $16.79, a 20% markdown from the list price of $20.99. The sale price extends only until April 20, so if you've been looking forward to the release, you might want to snap it up now.

Similarly, the game also appeared this week for both iOS and Android. It requires 4GB of space for install, and a shade over 3 after, so this is definitely a game that I'll never have on my phone, which is constantly just about full. In the US, the same list price of $20.99 is what you'll pay for either platform. OS requirements are iOS7 and Android 4.1.

Spooniest Getting it this weekend, before the sale is up

w00+

The reviews and buzz are good too. Apparently the extra time they took to bugtest it (I'm guessing) was worth it.

Pooka I wonder if the Google Play version can be installed and played on a fully-offline Android device. I won't be spending $21 without making sure that it's not a wasted cost if I were to suddenly run out of internet supply. That and it demands 4GBs of storage, far beyond my current capabilities, so I'm in no rush here.

Blinge Odonata Right, is this one actually any good?

Is it full of annoying DRM like 8 is?
Does it use PC midi like 8 does?

edit: ahh I might just have to follow my mantra: don't h8, emul8

fatman I hope this means it will be ported to the PlayStation 4 eventually like FF7 was.
Any improvement in graphics over the PSONE version? I read that the original game would had looked better but they had to scale it down a bit as the PSONE could only handle so much.

I've only played a few minutes of it, but from what I've seen and heard, the answer is "kinda." Menus and models have been upres'd, but the field and battle backgrounds have not, which can be kind of jarring. The models look fantastic, though. At least some of the FMVs have been redone in high-resolution as well, and they are lovely, if not quite up to par with what you would get from a new game.
