Hurrah! I'm quit pleased/happy/surprised. ^^ Mirrors Into Windows was brilliant, I can see why it won first. I can't wait for the next CoNtest - you can definitely count on more fics. :D Thanks for hosting it, you guys!

Wow! I'm extremely flattered! This is a real honor - every fanfic on this site is incredible, and the CoNtest entries were terrific! ![]() Congratulations, everyone, and thanks CoN staffers! And thanks for the kind words, Lockpick - as an Edgar fan, I especially enjoyed your story. Long live CoN!

Wow, I really loved The Shadow. The others were really good too, but that one is definitely my favorite. The tone is very short and matter-of-fact, kind of survivalist, and yet there are distinct marks of intelligence scattered throughout. I also love the complexity of the subject and how it was handled. I never really thought of Shadow as such a countryboy-type (I always imagined him as more of a world-tired strong/silent asian dude), but it really makes sense, and I like this perspective a lot more than what mine was. Great job!

Quote (karasuman @ 8th December 2008 00:33) They wouldn't let me enter. ![]() Is it because you are a staff member? By the way,I meant to ask, was it our ratings that decided the winner, or did the staff judge?

Sephiroth: No one but the judges could see the fanfics until after the announcement of the winners. I just wanted to add on one bit of postscript to this and the fanart contest combined; as promised, we today made a donation of $75.00 to Child's Play, the charity run by the folks behind Penny Arcade. The charity provides entertainment of all sorts (games, movies, books, music, etc.), as well as financial support to children's hospitals all over the United States, as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and even Egypt. This donation was made on behalf of the winners of our two contests, so thank you all for participating and feel good that the hard work you put in has made an impact, however small, on the lives of those less fortunate than us. Thanks again to everyone, and we hope you can get involved again!
