Final Fantasy V and VI DS Remakes Uncertain

General Final Fantasy
For those of us waiting for a FFV and FFVI DS remake, it appears that we might have to wait for some time. Long time Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto, executive producer of almost all Final Fantasy remakes and ports, stated on Twitter that due to "technical issues" Square is undecided at the moment on whether or not to go ahead with them.

The response was an answer to numerous fan questions regarding the release of certain Square video games. Hashimoto's reply to all of them was that they were "at present undecided," and that Final Fantasy V and VI in particular had technical difficulties.

Now, as to what technical difficulties, I can't be certain because the details are vague. It does seem very likely that we will have to wait quite some time for these already long-awaited ports.

Neal Makes me wonder if some of the "technical difficulties" spawn from Nintendo releasing 834 different DS remakes every few months. I imagine from a developer that it's difficult to publish for a company that continues to upgrade faster than you can put out games.

sweetdude It may take so long to make that there'll be a new DS that doesn't support it. I've always thought that if a publisher wants to maintain some longevity in their games they should consider going back to the old PC platform. It's not like the majority of household computers can't support SNES or DS games.

I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe it's that they're waiting for a newer, more solid system to port to.

It also makes me think that they're waiting to see id 3DS will work... ?

One of the main problems that I had is that there Twitter page is entirely in Japanese. That's why I didn't use it as a source.

Is kind of disappointed in both ways because was hoping that Square Enix was going to make the FF 6 remake PS3/ X-box 360. I'm guessing that will happen for the FF 7 remake because bloody FF 7 always gets the special treatment from Square Enix. >__>

i saw a while back that Nomura said that a FFVII remake was not being made, but we were rather going to get more Cloud cameos. wacko.gif

earthnsky How disappointing. Ugh. I like Nintendo, but seriously, making all these upgraded versions of the system is just obnoxious. No way anyone can keep up with that unless they're rich and I find that hard to believe, not to mention impractical to shell out $130 plus tax every time Nintendo decides to upgrade the DS system. Personally, I have the DS lite and not the most recent because I can actually play the GBA version of FF6 on it. If it weren't for that, I'd probably have bought one of the upgrades. Possibly. Except that by the time I bought one it probably would have been obsolete.

It does seem that way, doesn't it? How about a little respect for the games that came before it, yah know?

Heard rumors about Square planning to make a second Dirge of Cerberus and another Final Fantasy VII RPG for the PlayStation 3 that will have Genesis has the main villain instead of 'over-rated- roth' (Sephiroth)
