Are they good? are they bad? Are they annoying? should they be reomoved? should they be increased? -------------------- Why is it that rpg's are now a dying breed? |

Snipers?
As enemies, I think they're some of the most annoying people to face. If a game features realistic settings, like in MGS or SOCOM, they're even more pesky. However, as far as enemies go, they're also my favorite, because I'm also very fond of sniper rifles. It comes down to stealth showdown, and it's a great adrenaline rush for me. I don't mind playing it safe and getting out of the gung-ho bombs-and-tanks atmosphere. If there's a choice over which weapons you can select for you (or your team), I always go with long-range rifles. I find them more fun because you actually get to "pick" off enemies without notifying them, and it's more difficult to advance if you let yourself be detected given the awkward close-quarters uselessness. Hopefully, they'll be increased and not removed--they're an aspect of the game just as the foot soldiers and hostages are, so I'd rather have everything increased. I'll be needing more ammo boxes, though. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I would definitely ask for more snipers than for less. More so that I could be the sniper b/c it's a rush. Kind of like in laser tag

They're, quite frankly, nothing more than a modernised ninja. Both Ninjas and Snipers/Designated Marksmen have a Hollywood sheen to them now, leading to factual errors. Thus, I'm rather indifferent. I'd like snipers to be a bit more realistic (for example, few games reall demonstrate the effect one sniper can have on morale) and you almost never see sniper teams.
But the numbers of people who after playing counter-strike think they are leet snipors, that needs to decrease. Military snipers are often antisocial and borderline psychotic. They also can carry out mind-boggling feats, such as taking into account for windage and basically curve-shotting a bullet (Such an incident took place in Iraq during the actual war with a british army marksman) So, probably less hollywood snipers, more realistic snipers. Oh, and less Irvines. Any actual sniper is so heavily trained , or in some cases fanatically devoted to the cause, as to not hesitate, no matter the target. I definetely love snipers. One of the best bosses I've ever fought was The End from MGS 3 and Sniper Wolf from MGS. Also, I love to play Snipers against friends in things like Halo. So, yes, I love snipers.

It depends really:
If I am the sniper, then snipers are awesome If my friend is the sniper, then the game shouldn't have snipers, as he's better than me. (not that it matters in Call of Duty, as he uses rifles and completey PWNs) If you can snipe with the pistol, then snipers are awesome (many a time have i pissed people off this way, and fully enjoyed their undirected rage) -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

In an FPS? I'm generally drawn towards using the sniper or sniper-style weapons (like the crossbow in Half-Life 2). I dunno, I seem to be naturally better with these than with other weapons in most games.
But being on the receiving end of a well-placed sniper bullet? You will never, ever hear me yell profanities as great in number or as damning in nature as in this situation. Ever. This post has been edited by MarquisElmdor on 7th November 2005 20:12 |

Removing snipers?, man you're crazy like Frank the Tank once said. I myself love to play the role of the Sniper when playing Multiplayes games in Halo with my buddy's, or just fool the one who snipers against me!

While I admit that picking enemies off before they have any idea that you're there can be entertaining, I don't like "playing" a sniper. For instance, sniping missions in games like GTA are usually irritating because of poor controls. I don't like facing snipers for obvious reasons: they get to shoot at me before I get to shoot at them.
