Save game for ROM

i wasnt totally sure where to stick this question, so im sorry if this is a bad spot for it, but i downloaded the ff6 rom and one of the savestates from this site, the rom works fine, but i cant seem to find out a way to get the savestate to work on it. well if anyone can help, i would certainly appreciate it. thanks guys.

You do know that there are two types of "saved files" right? one is maybe it's saved on original file (.srm) instead of savestate, or am i wrong?

We don't have ROM savestates here. The only saved games we have are for the PSX version. This may be the problem if you downloaded both from CoN.
