One of the times that I played the game over and had to save Princess Whats-her-name at Zirekile Falls, after the battle I was treated to a short scene where one of the chocobos present in the battle wanted to join my party. His name was Boco, I think. I thought it was really odd at the time, as this had never happened before (nor since, but I don't think I ever replayed that part of the game). I also seem to remember something different about him, either his icon image was slightly different or he didn't lay eggs or something, but for whatever reason he struck me as a special character unlike the other chocobos you could attain. I eventually let him go to make room for more human characters, but to this day I wonder what it was that made him special, and if he really was a special character, or if one just randomly is offered a chocobo after Zirekile Falls. Thoughts anyone?

Hey! now that sounds familiar too! Maybe that's where I got him. It's been so long since I played the game sad.gif Was there anything else special about him?

Boco is one of the most famous chocobo's out there...not only is he the first monster you get in fft, but he is also Bartz chocobo in ffv...

Thats where some of you probably heard of him

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
If you remember correctly in FFV, Boco eventually hurts his leg and is replaced with a metal one i believe...it's been awhile since i've played it though

But other than that, he's just any other monster...except he's got the cool name Boco!

He's nothing special battle-wise but he's a unique character in terms of story. He's Wiegraf's Chocobo as Mewmon pointed out. I usually keep him in my party for that reason.

I classify Boco as a "special generic"-type character along with Rad, Lavian, and Alicia. They're just there as tag-alongs, and aren't really that important unless you're going for a Master File.

Thanks for pointing it out about it once being Wiegraf's Chocobo at one pinot and as for Rad, Lavian, and Alicia, I only used Alicia (mine is level 60 at the moment.) and dumped out Rad and Lavian.

Boco always ticks me off. He's worthless and I need the space for generic characters named after friends. So I always happen.

As for the original question, I don't think that I've ever had that happen

First time I played I used him to ride, but soon dumped him for a Tiamat.

FFT doesn't give enough room for sets of generic characters as well as all the story characters and room enough to breed pigs to slaughter for items.

The only thing that I think that chocobo is good for is laying me a high level Red Chocobo. Those things kick butt! You can use choco meteor on like everyone on the field. happy.gif

Nah, I think the chocobo class is pretty good. One heals, one relieves ailments, and one bombards the enemy from afar. Better yet, Monster Skill doesn't give them new skills, but skills the class already has. The chocobo gets Choco Esuna, making it a fully-fledged healer; the black chocobo gets Choco Meteor, making it a powerhouse even moreso; the red chococo gets Choco Cure, and can use it very well.

Plus, Black Chocobos are the only ones you can mount and fly around on, so that's cool in itself. tongue.gif

Well I think of Boco as special because
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
he has his own special side battle centered around him.
. Other then that he's just your average chocobo, except 'e has the honor of collecting dust in my party at Lv 16 or some other extreamly low level. I only keep the little bugger because I like to collect special/story given characters. I never thought that 'e was ever that usful myself, even when I first got the little foul. I also take Boco in because like to save everybody I can. I even choose the save Algus option to this day even though I know what's going to happen later in the game.

Hey, while I'm here know this sounds like an odd question but is the Chocobo at the wind shed always named Boco? Most of the time it is but I vaguely remember that particular chocobo being named something else too. However, I do remember there being another chocobo there too so my memory might just be mush.

The chocobo you fight when you battle against Wiegraf is in fact Boco, the same chocobo you'll find later in Araguay Woods. There is no other chocobo in this battle.

Hmm... well, Boco always seems to just collect dust in my party. I always start thinking I oughta toss him out. Maybe I will toss him next time I play Tactics. He's only useful for breedin' me a powerful Black or Red Chocobo, which, btw, are AWESOME!!! Other than that, I'll probably boot him.

Early on, I use to think that all the special characters had earned a place on my team and that it was sort of "wrong" to not let them join. By the twentieth time I'd played through, I seemed to have ditched that notion for only those who were functioning members of my party or who I could fit in without dumping a useful character--special or generic.

Boco's fine, yeah, but he's just a chocobo with a name slapped on it. You could probably change his name to Birdbrain and it wouldn't make him better or worse. I think I boot him because he's not a special animal by most means. Byblos, Worker-8, Reis are all great as animals and have their owns kills, but poor old Boco is just a chocobo lost in a world of better characters.

You can, in fact, change his name to whatever you want. I dismissed Boco for the previously mentioned better characters. Since the only special thing about him is his name you might as well breed a red one and rename that Boco. happy.gif

I saved Boco for when I fought Wiegraf again in the Castle... Weigraf ripped him a new one, granted he was only like lvl 40 and I was using Game Shark to get Monster Ally's inside, but Boco Kicked Weigraf's ass! Like Hardcore style!

Boco used to heal for like 999 hp a cure... he was awesome, he would move 16 squares, had a jump of 16... I used a Game Shark once in my life, for this and to get Olan Durai as a Member of my party. I loved it.

As previously mentioned, I use Boco to spawn black an' red chocobos and I kick him out in exchange for the more powerful black/red chocobos. I might re-name one of them Boco just for kicks.

I don't see what's so great about using Boco to breed since the offspring are just as low-levelled. Makes great for flying around though. wink.gif

I keep boco simply cause i want a good mix of charectors on my team, boco has come in handy a few times as well though. A couple of my charectors had really bad movement i just slapped them on boco and they were just fine, though i can never figure out how to dismount with out kill the one on boco. As for the windmill i was just there recently his name does chage at times but he is also called boco i have notice a majority of the time. I find it hard now that i have all the story charctors including
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Cloud, Ries, Worker 8, Beowlf
all on my team i also kept malak(sp?) cause i consider him a good fighter. So basically i keep boco to get a good mix of charectors.
