http://goodreads.com/
Does anybody else use goodreads? It's basically a community for readers; you keep track of what you've read, what you're reading and what you would like to read in the future. You can rate and/or review what you've read, get recommendations and keep up with / interact with what friends are reading. It's not just literature; in addition to all genres and qualities of fiction, they've also got just about everything else that can be read on there as well: history, philosophy, etc. There are a lot of aspects of the site that I haven't gotten around to using: a big quote library, quizzes, lists, a spot to post your own writing. The site's value really corresponds to the amount you read; if you're someone who finishes books pretty regularly and likes looking up and building lists of books to read in the future, then you're at least capable of getting a lot out of the site. If you don't read all that frequently, you might find that your activity is too few and far between to warrant keeping up with it. Even so, it's still nice to be able to write a brief review after reading a book so that you can return to your thoughts later. I've certainly got plenty use out of it, but then again, I'm reading all the time. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! I've been on goodreads for a while. I have to admit, I generally skimp out on writing any real reviews or recommendations save for a few titles I absolutely feel everyone ought to read (like House of Leaves, for example.) Otherwise, I read it, rate it, stick it on my book list and hope the site will throw another gem my way. For the most part, I've grabbed a few great reads off their recommendations, but it seems heavily skewed toward pushing popular titles as well. Literally every book I've seen, by any given other, eventually will prompt you to read Twilight.
I guess that speaks more to the base of users generating these ratings than anything else, though. Scary. At any rate, you can find me at: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3786699-jav Like Death Penalty, I tend to read a lot. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

I added you, Jav, and I should've added that I am here:
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2363940-alex I never used to do reviews, but I started writing brief paragraphs for everything, just because it's simple enough and it helps sorta cap-end the book for me. I've seen some of those people who do three page full reviews, and that does not seem fun at all. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up!
