As promised, here is the sign-up thread for the (un)Official Caves of Narshe Final Fantasy X Quiz.
For those of you that didn't get a PM from me on this, I have composed a Quiz on Final Fantasy X, for the entertainment of all CoN-ers. I was going to also put questions from FFX-2, but due to multiple "I've never played X-2"'s, I have remade it as 100% X. I know you'll have questions about the quiz, so here we go: Q: Does this have the blessing of the CoN staff? A: I have run the idea past R51, and he didn't say no. I tend to take that as an affirmative. Q: Have you ever given a quiz on a FF-forum before? A: Yes, several. I was going to use the questions from my last FFX/X-2 quiz, but the site they were on no longer exists, hence I couldn't get it up here as soon as I had planned. Q: How many times have you played X? A: Five or six. Don't worry, I know what I'm talking about. Plus, I know how to make unambiguous questions - most of them have single-word answers. Q: How will this work? A: As of right now, you have a week to sign up. If fewer than 5 people sign up, I'll probably scrap the idea. When the week is over, you receive a round of 10 questions per week for 3 weeks (or sooner, depending on how fast I get all the results). Each round will have a bonus question worth 2 points. The rounds get progressively harder each time. You have 15 minutes upon opening the PM to do each round, and I will be timing you. 45 minutes, 30 questions total, a score of 36 is possible with the bonuses. Anyways, that's about all for now. Sign up for the quiz here, and we'll all have fun making it work. Don't post a bunch of nay-saying about how this won't work - it will if enough people participate. I have done this before, and they work when people sign up and play. Also, don't have an "I can't win" attitude. I assure you that you will all have a pretty fair shot at winning because this is a difficult quiz. Beginners and gurus alike will be challenged. Sign up now, don't be shy. Yeah count me in. Any competition on the CoN is great fun!
Just to ask, are the questions centred around the game itself or are some going to be about the creators, VAs, SE etc? I'd prefer one based on the game. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Sorry about the confusion. You can all just sign up in this thread. I will keep a running tally of sign-ups on my original post. And yes, the quiz will be 100% game-based. I'm not the sort that will expect you to know who did the voice of Brother or anything.

The rounds will last as long as you need them to. Basically, you have a week to open the PM from me. Once you do open it, your "time" begins. You have 15 minutes to finish once you open the PM whether you open it at 9:00 PM EST on Monday or 1:00 AM GMT on Thursday - it's not a "be there or be square" type of deal.
The moral of the story is that you can open the PM whenever you're good and ready (in the space of the next 7 days), but before you do, make sure you have a good 15 minutes to spare. Right then, I declare Round 1 of the Quiz to be over. Here are the answers:
1. Name the sword Wakka gives Tidus in Besaid. Brotherhood. 2. Name the attack that Yunalesca uses to turn your party into zombies. Hellbiter. 3. Name one of the two Overdrives that can Eject an enemy. Shooting Star or Thrust Kick. 4. Name the prison in Bevelle. Via Purifico. 5. Name the item that someone put heart and soul into making. Withered Bouquet. 6. Name the attack that Tonberries use specifically on Aeons. Voodoo. 7. Name Seymour's Overdrive. Requiem. 8. Name the attack that Biran and Yenke use to shift their positions on-screen and damage Kimahri. Bulldoze. 9. Name the Sinspawn you fight at Operation Mi'ihen. Sinspawn Gui. 10. What was the Crusaders' original name? The Crimson Blades. Bonus: What does "Subete wo Koeshimono" refer to? It refers to Nemesis in the Monster Arena. It translates to something like "For he that has conquered all", which fits since you have to beat every other monster to fight it. Great job to all participants. I won't post your scores yet, because I don't want anyone to decide they can't possibly win and drop out. I will say that the average score was 6, and that any one of you that answered still has a fair shot at winning. Round 2 is on it's way to you now, and you'll have a week to finish. Good luck!
