Hi! My name is Inque, and here is one of my fanfics! I know that this subject has been done before a lot, but it is one of my favorite storylines in Final Fantasy VI! It is about what happened to Cyan after Kefka made the World of Ruin. We used the Japanese names for Elaine and Owen because they sound much cooler. I wrote it and then my Girl Friend helped me edit it and make it better because she is much better at English than I am. She is great! Here is the first chapter!

Silk Flowers - chapter 1

By Inque and Bianca

Cyan Garamonde, with a brown hooded cloak draped over his ornate Doman suit of armor, strolled through Miranda cautiously and nervously, as if there might be someone lurking in the next alley trying to kill him. Of course, that was exactly what Cyan had in mind. After all, Kefka knew the names and faces of everyone in the group that had opposed his and Gestahl’s attempt at world domination, and had known Cyan’s involvement with Terra and the others since Doma fell to Kefka’s dastardly poison.

The poison. Doma. The king. Mina and Shun. Cyan’s entire family and most of his friends, meeting their demise from such a dirty trick! The thought both made the noble knight’s blood boil and eyes water. But Cyan knew that he couldn’t take action. Not alone and on the run from Kefka’s minions. He wasn’t in the group that raided the Floating Continent prior to the World of Ruin’s creation, but he vividly remembered Setzer’s beloved airship being torn in two and exploding, launching Cyan all the way to a valley between Zozo and Jidoor. He wandered between the cities on that continent and eventually landed in Miranda. Cyan liked this place; it was quiet and peaceful compared to the aristocrat Jidoor and the dump to the north.

Cyan was sitting at a table at the town Inn when he overheard a conversation. It was between two pretty village girls in their twenties, and one of them was crying. Cyan didn’t like to eavesdrop, but this time he couldn’t help himself.

“Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll send another one soon.”

“But its been three months! No one knows what’s happening that far west! Mobliz could have been destroyed!”

The girl that was crying was upset about something about letters from Mobliz. Cyan knew that sounded familiar, and it hit him like a ton of bricks. There was a hurt soldier in Mobliz when he visited there with Sabin, months ago after Doma fell. They even helped him send a letter by Carrier Pigeon!

It was obvious what was happening now. Some time three months ago this soldier died. Maybe because of the Light of Judgment, maybe because he was already sick. Anyways, he couldn’t send any more letters, so his former girlfriend’s heart was breaking.

Cyan wanted to help her. But he didn’t know how. He knew she didn’t want the truth and didn’t need a new boyfriend. She just wanted to know that her boyfriend was all right. Of course! He could send letters! And pretend that they were from her boyfriend! Mina loved his poetry when he was a young knight and she was a maiden, he was sure that getting a love letter would cheer this poor girl up! First things first, Cyan needed to find stationary. He could probably find it in Jidoor. Cyan left the Inn and headed north-west along the long penisula. Maybe they sold silk in Jidoor, too….

I'm still writing the next Chapter, but any help you can give me is Great! I might rewrite this again if you think I need to.

Well, it's definetly acceptable so far, well written, clear, and easy on the reader's eye, but it does feel a little too short just now, and for some reason it kind of feels a bit... Simple at points.

Nonetheless, it's a promising start, so keep at it, as I feel this one really needs a little more to properly shine.

Well, I'm surprised that Cyan's so calm considering Jidoor and Zozo were once part of the Northern Continent, and Maranda was a subjugated kingdom (well, 'city', though an army to take a city...) on the Imperial Continent. It's like walking from New York, NY and finding yourself in London, UK. If your brain doesn't melt, you'll probably still be in disbelief years after the fact.

A similar vein would be knowledge of the Light of Judgment. It seems a bit callous, the way it's brought up. The propagation of such divine power (and its name) might make a few more ripples rather than just-another-weapon.

Anyhow, I'm a nitpicker and probably analyze too deeply. This is an excellent start and anything else I say would just be repetition of the last three posts. Please continue.
