I was having some annoyingness as far as one of the extra dungeons in FF:DoS goes. Fire Shrine it is..and on the 9th floor (although they are randomly generated in which the order they appear) it is a world map lookin place. And I can't get the F out of it!! Can anyone give me any sort of help here??

Plus, I figured there should be a thread based on these new GBA dungeons anyway.

HELP PLEASE eh.gif

You can find a ship at one of the ports (I think it was like SW corner) which you take to another part of the continent. There is a desert there with a tree in it. "Talk" to the tree, and you get an airship. Take the airship to an island with an exit hole on it (can only get to the island with the airship)

You may want to try talking to it from all sides. I talked to it from the north.
You need the Levistone, which isn't an issue, since you needed the airship to get to the Fire one.

There is a randomly placed staircase in each desert like level in the secret dungeons, I hate those levels, the forest I can do, but a desert? Anyway, I think you should find a tree head North or East and then use it as a land mark, that's what I do anyway.

Could you repeat that?

If you're talking about the Earthgift shrine, that's the only one that has one of those desert levels. wink.gif The trees are arranged in arrow formations (except for a few solitary palm trees). Just walk to the tip and head in the direction it points; you'll find an other set soon enough.

Easy as pie. However uh... easy pie happens to uh... be. wink.gif

As someone who is taking on these dungeons myself, I strongly suggest you beat the four fiends first. You should be strong enough then, especially with the holy and flare spells. Those are the real heavy hitters. I've gone through the Earth shrine and Fire shrine without too much trouble. I am in the Ice Cavern right now, and let me tell you, it just keeps going and going. As of now I am on the 34th level and still going. The monster on the first couple of levels are pretty easy, the same stuff as the other two shrine I've been to. The farther you go down though, the more tricky they get.

I had very little trouble with the shrines, but my party was pretty strong by the time I got to the later shrines.

Basically I tackled them as they opened. The earth shrine was somewhat challenging because my party was weak. I thought I was stuck on the last floor but I fought Cerberus and barely managed to beat him. After a bit of levelling I went back for the rest of the bosses.

The other shrines were mostly easy, but I ended up saving the water shrine for last because the end bosses are kind of though. I recommand you do the same if you don't want to make it all the way to the bottom only to die and have to do it again. wink.gif

I also did the Water Shrine last, but I did so only to get the Ultima Weapon before facing off against Omega and Shinryuu. Again, I strongly recommend doing likewise, unless, of course, you mean to kill Gilgamesh and the other one (forgot who it was) and then exit somehow (Ninjas can't use Warp so I wouldn't know).

After having completed the Whisperwind shrine or cavern, or whatever it was, I agree to do the water shrine last. It may not have as many levels as the Ice Cavern, as I know it, but the two last bosses are pretty tough.

By the way, which of the two is easier? I faced them both once, and died, but I did best against Shinryuu.

I found Omega to be easier, but it all depends on your party and equipment. I just let both of my "shield Ninjas" die, and left the damage-dealing Ninjas alive, with near 4 invisaras cast on them (I love the White Robe). The defender was used many a time as well, so I only took like 50 damage when he connected. Wave Cannon hurts, yes, but the Rune staff heals and he never uses Wave Cannon more than twice in a row....for me, at least. Anyways, once I did as much damage as I saw fit, i brought back the other two Ninjas and rocked the Megalixers until the Ultima Weapon slayed him in the end. Again, it's just preference.

Right, so I guess it will depend on my party and how I want to fight. Good thing I got all those megalixers from the past chaos dungeons, because those will come in handy.

okay, here's what i did:
just before beating Chaos, i exited the Chaos Shrine w/ my W. Mage, then went to Whisperwind Cove. my entire party was around lvl. 60, so i only had trouble with the Death Gaze, and even he wasn't much of a problem. When i beat D.G., i got the Ultima Weapon, and beating the other 3 caves was a snap (i guess Earthgift wouldn't count because i beat all of the bosses in there before i even got the airship) so anyway, thats how i did it really easily thumbup.gif but it still suks that each cavern is 7 bajillion stories deep... dry.gif

and this just for kicks:

Omega: stronger physical attacks and defense, more HP, instant death move.
Shinryuu: stronger magic attacks and magic defense, powerful attacks used more often.

I killed Omega without the U-Weapon, but Shinryuu was too strong for my L55 party. By the time I went back, I was at L65 and had the U-Weapon, so Shinryuu got his face eaten. Just for clarification, I ran a standard Knight/3 Wizard party. (Seriously, the WM/WW shouldn't be able to keep up with the physical classes in terms of HP like they do in DoS.)

Where is the Whisperwind Shrine anyway? I'm lost, I just defeated Cagnazzo and Rubicante. I'll defeat Scarmiglione (sp?) and the one that I can't even pronounce so I still call her Valvalis.

The whisperwind shrine is on the river system that leads to Mt. Gulg and the desert where you get the airship. It's on the river, so you have to reach it by canoe. You can get there from crescent lake, but there is an easier way. If you got to Mt. Gulg and travel north and slightly to the right, you will find a path leading to a cave in the mountains, but this is the Ice Cavern. If you go slightly to the right and slightly north, you will find the entrance to the whisperwind shrine (it's actually in the same mountain range as the Ice Cavern, so it is hard to miss). If you go slightly north here you will see a strip of land connected to the river that you can land on and get in your canoe. If you hit trees, you've gone too far, so go back down and try to find it. From their travel right, down, left, down and you will find the whisperwind shrine.

I strongly recommend you be a high level and have your share of items because the shrine is 40 levels deep, but is well worth it.

I found it. I spent all day on it. It was fun! Death Gaze was a pain, however. It was worth the time. sad.gif I don't have a red wizard to give that Lightbringer to, however thumbdown.gif

Yeah, took me a while too. It's just so deep, that's why. Death Gaze was pretty tough, but if you can beat him, you don't really have to worry about Chaos, now that you have the ultima weapon. Go to the whirpool now, to fight through the Undersea Shrine if you haven't. There are three bosses total, two of them on the last level so you have to go trough it twice. I've beaten Shinryu, but have yet to fight Omega.

This is one of those urgent messages where I don't bother reading th rest of the topic. I accidently entered the Earthgift shrine immedeatly after defeating the Lich for the first time. On the first step in, I saved. That's bad. Now I'm in the cave with level 25 characters and I can't beat the bosses at the end. IS THERE ANY WAY OUT?
