Hey nerds.
FF1 has a randomizer now. I race it. It's fun as heck. Play it. For those not familiar with the idea of a game randomizer: it's a romhack generator, that gives you a randomized set of chests, spells, enemy skills, enemy stats, onhit abilities, and adds a lot of performance tweaks to the game to make things play much faster. I don't think I could play vanilla ff1 without these playability tweaks anymore. Should have posted it before the tournament started, sorry. The tournament, however, can still be followed here: http://challonge.com/ffronetourney To learn more, check out any of the runners' streams, or check out the Discord! Discuss. Had a race go rather well tonight until I found out Tiamat2's AI was NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE Wonderful! This post has been edited by Kittymew on 5th September 2017 13:10 |

What's the randomizer, though? Seems like it would be hard to get interested in a tournament without knowing more about what it is. Just a party randomizer? Is it a game hack or more like what Four Job Fiesta offers for FF5?

I'll edit the original, but it's a hack GENERATOR, that gives you a randomized set of chests, spells, enemy skills, enemy stats, onhit abilities, and adds a lot of performance tweaks to the game to make things play much faster.

That sounds pretty neat. I don't tend to watch streams that I'm not involved in somehow, but I might check one of those out to see a little more about how it works. Who developed the randomizer and where can I read more about it specifically? The tech of it is interesting but doesn't seem to be discussed at all on that tournament page.
