Okay, sorry for the caps, but I'm desperate here, I'm no computer guy:

HOW IN THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU UNINSTALL MSN MESSENGER?!?!?!

Please, someone tell me you're dumbfounded by this thing.  It showed up, out of nowhere, and pops up incessantly telling me things I don't want to know.  I want to get rid of it, but for Pete's sake, how do you manage the bloody feat?

I close my mouth now and I scream,
Open the door, there's nothing worth redeeming
I saw your face before in rough,
You should wait around a while, your body's bound to turn up.
So low for how high?

Try Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, MSN Messenger 4.6 (or whatever you have). It's right here, so I assume it should be on yours, too.

unless you have Windows XP, in that case you'll have to get creative.  go into explorer, (not Internet explorer) hit find, and delete that piece of crap.

You don't have to be a computer guy to remove MSN, you have to be a fully fledged computer geek, and even then!...

Sorry, yes this post WAS just to bitch about how hard it is to get rid of MSN.

You should be able to uninstall it as JLo said on Windows 9x (incl. ME).

If you have Windows XP, you can stop Windows Messenger from running like this:

1. Go to Start, Run.  Enter "gpedit.msc".
2. Navigate to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Messenger.
3. Enable the two settings there.

This may also be in Windows 2000 listed under MSN Messenger, I have no way to check.

I never uninstalled it on my Windows 98 and it doesn't show on start-up. I unchecked it in Start --> Run --> msconfig --> Startup

There isn't anything in my Administrative Templates folder, Tiddles.

But Tommah's method worked, I think.  Even if it isn't GONE, at least it won't bother me anymore.

I don't know what you mean Edwin. I have MSN messenger and it never pops up or bothers me or anything. It just sits in the the corner until I feel like signing into it. And I never get any stupid pop-up windows either. Damn you AIM...

The clouds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

he's talking about it just being in the corner, watching you, with those beady little eyes that size you up like J-lo's... >_> ...uh..heh... :D... -_-

back on topic, some of us "anti-social" types (as in shy, not psycopath) have no use for that program, and find it's pushiness offensive.
