This is yet another column of mine. On a side note, my high school is/was composed of only 10, 11, and 12 grades. The freshmen have a seperate school to themseleves.

In general, I can't stand the underclassmen. I'm not without my reasons though. They crowd the halls all the while thinking they're the "bomb-diggity." Of course, they can't really help it.
They're young and naive, plus most of them are experiencing hormone overdoes. With any luck, they'll grow up in 20-30 years.
I can't say I was much better though. When I was a freshman, I was short, loud, obnoxious, and stupid. Now that I've aged into the mighty senior who stands before you, I'm not quite so short anymore. To tell you the truth, not much as changed between then and now.
My opinion of the underclassmen would improve dramatically if they learned to do one thing: walk and talk at the same time. I know, it's a difficult concept to wrap your mind around. I'm getting a migraine just thinking about it. However, with most of the underclassmen still struggling with basic motor skills, walking and talking at the same time might cause their tiny brains to short out. Pop!
This novel idea of doing more than one thing at a time is a little something I like to call multi-tasking. I do admit that some of my senior brethren are guilty of crowding the halls, but for the most part, it's the underclassmen casuing the congestion. Besides, we're seniors. We own this school.
I'm surprised the school board hasn't identified the problem and introduced a new course to aid students with this difficult concept. This course would be called something along the lines of, "Walking and Talking for Morons 101."
What I find most strange though is the fact that I never see the underclassmen move, ever. It's like their feet are glued to the floor. As soon as the bell rings and I come strolling out of class, there they are, right back in their original spots! Either they don't go to class or they've developed superhuman speed.
What gives? Just great, the last thing we need is a new breed of underclassmen who can be annoying twice as fast. I shouldn't worry though. In a few years, natural selection will do them in. Darwin to the rescue.
I do try to be polite when I forge my way through their dam of human flesh. Meaning, I don't go out of my way to break toes. My favorite part of trying to get though their impenetrable wall is when I meekly say, "excuse me" and they glare at me as if I've imposed on some divine right to block traffic.
I sure would like to cool and stand in the intersections of the hallways and not let anyone though; however, the posse of friends I talk to in the mornings consists of four people, including myself.
We wouldn't make much of a blockade since people could just walk around us and that would defeat the evil and maniacal purpose of making others late to class.
Instead we the coolest thing possible- next to standing in the hallways that is- and sit in the library. Yes, I'm embarrassed to say that we too struggle with walking and talking at the same time. It's inevitable that one of us will forget to breathe and pass out.
However, unlike most of the underclassmen in the school, we've effectively dealt with our problem by finding some place other then the hall to hang out.
I'm tired to having to push and elbow my way through the halls just to get to class. So here's my proclamation to all the underclassmen who congest the halls and make me late: Get your butts in gear and move. We could always send you back to the Freshman Center.

That's why you should just push your way on through, expressing the attitude of "Hey, you idiots shouldn't be blocking the door, if you get hurt, its not my fault".  Say it out loud or not, it works just the same.

We had this problem at our highschool, it was built for around 500 people, I guess, and we had 1800.  It was very difficult to get around.  Plus the fact that the majority of the school, mostly underclassmen, were idiots who think standing in the middle of all the doorways is cool.   ''

In my old school, the underclassmen would all form a huge semicircle around a locker until their almost tangential to the opposite wall. And it's damn well near impossible to get through.

You really shouldn't blame your problems on a group of people like that, it's racism.

As a general rule, all human beings are made of matter, and therefore, take up space. and since every (and I do mean every) class starts and ends at pretty much the same time, you can see why the halls are allways crowded.  Also lets not forget the fact 3/4 of the school population are underclassmen to you.

I'm going to laugh if you start hating on the other Seniors come march ':p'

There are several things I'd like to discuss. First and foremost is your definition of a racist. While interesting, it's also erroneous. Perhaps you could call me on discrimination, but not racism. Underclassmen are not a race. By your definition, anyone who thought poorly of a terrorist or blamed problems on them would also be a racist, since they too are a group of people.
More importantly, I think you missed the point of my article. It was meant mostly to entertain. I brought up a not-so-serious problem and handled it in an entertaining fashion. I even made fun of myself. It was a high school column. Lighten up.
By the way, I don't need a lesson in physics; however, I do think you need a lesson in math. If you had read my entire post you would see that my school is only made up of sophomores, juniors and seniors. That would mean only two-thirds of the school would be underclassmen to me, not your proposed three-fourths.
(On a side note, I graduated last spring.)

I hate almost everyone in my school period. I used to be friends with a real sweer girl, Amanda. Then we get to high schhol and she totally ignores me because I sit with the " losers " . She really doesn't like the fact that I sit with them. so she and all her " cool friends"  always block the halls.

Our problem in school was that, although we weren't overcrowded, ALL the students liked to hang out in areas where the highest traffic was. I think they thought that if they did this, there was a higher chance of being seen being "cool" and in the way by people. The smokers would block the front and rear entrances, the jocks would block the hallway to the cafeteria, etc.

My group was in the library until the end of junior high. In high school (grades 10-12) we hung out in the computer lab, and the hallway outside the computer lab (a hallway that didn't go anywhere, so we weren't blocking)

I'm waiting for next year to use the snowplow method... elbows up, ram on through!

Well usually, I don't have to be worried about crowded. People just tend to back away slowly and stare whenever I walk by. Maybe it's all the black...or the controversial logos, or maybe it's jsut they don't want to get impaled on the 5 inch spikes coming from my clothing.

I don't think much about underclasses and such, to me a person is a person, and so long as he or she doesn't piss me off, I remain indifferent.

Of my school (well before I was kicked out) I was the loud one, yelling like a retard, dressed like a pyscho and acting like one too, so you could say I was one of those people who caused problems. My group of friends is roughly 7 to 9 people, ex cluding myself, so we do block most of the hallways. Usually though, we galdly step aside. Until some moron walks into me, trying to charge through like he was on fire, and complains because he walked into a spike or that he stubbed his toe and the steel tip of my boot. See, ramming through doesn't work all the time. If anything, make the best of the situation. Turn up some loud music, and start a mosh pit, then find the direction you need to go in, and body surf over. It beats the hell out of walking!

When I don't look directly at a teacher and scream, "Lies! Damn dirty Lies!" On anything debatable. My hallway behaivior is quite in good spirit. I bring all of my friends to a corner of the hall and wait... When somone drives by in the proverbial canoe. We attack! We go out and throw spears at them!  ':nods:'

Anyway, I was able to unify any crowd that was not prep, jock, redneck, motorhead. It was beautiful to see everyone of the devine class getting along. Apart from that, we stayed in corners or the ends of lackers always staying out of the way from the walkways. It is a time saving people friendly transport method instead of clogging the hallways.

Also if they're really bad, make foot races from one side of the school to the other, or have LaCross games where the goals are on opposite sides of the school!
