Caves of Narshe Forums > Final Fantasy VII > Does Sephiroth know who his father is?

Most people say he doesn't, but there's a part in the game that makes me think otherwise.

In one of Cloud's "I'm Zack!" flashbacks, Sephiroth mentioned that he had no hometown. Cloud/Zack asks about his parents, so he explains to him what he was told about Jenova. Then, he says, "My father..." and then he just laughs and drops the subject. What the hell?

I have always understood that Sephiroth was

born as a result of some pseudo-IVF/designer baby nonsense between Professor Gast, Lucrecia, and Jenova's DNA, i.e. Lucrecia carried him to term with an egg that was at least part Jenova, and Gast provided the remaining 'ingredients'. So...his father is Professor Gast.

I've also always understood that Sephiroth discovered all of this when he locked himself away in the mansion at Nibelheim.

His father is definitely Hojo; Gast is Aeris' father.

Gast isn't even Sephiroth's father. Professor Hojo is Sephiroth's father.
I know that he found out about the experiments in the library.

Apologies - I was drunk and tired, and decided to juxtapose Gast and Hojo. Read Hojo for everytime I wrote Gast, and I'll stand by my earlier comment.

Then you understood it perfectly. tongue.gif

[SPOILER]I doubt sephiroth knows hojo is his dad although the laugh at neibleheim is misleading im pretty sure he would have sought justice with hojo (murder him)

I'm sure that Hojo would have been killed by Sephiroth as soon as he got in his way to even bother him.

Why would he "seek justice" on Hojo? Am I missing something?

So. He'd kill Hojo for working for ShinRa because he found out Hojo was his father. blink.gif that's what I'm getting from this. If he didn't like anyone associated with ShinRa I can only assume he'd go to greater lengths to kill Rufus much sooner.

Do you think he would've suddenly decided to be sweet and hug him?

No.
But I also think sudden murder is a little extreme.
I think if anything, he'd probably confront him about Jenova (pre- madness, anyway).

Well I agree he wouldnt of killed hojo before he went insane but he wouldn't have killed anyone without cause before he went crazy but im pretty sure he woulddnt of just forgot who his father was but you have changed my mind I dont think he would have hunted hojo down unless hojo tried to stop him
