People of the forums, I wanna know which of the four fiends you think is the hardest to kill. Ill start things off as always by saying that the hardest to kill for me was the fiend of the air Valvalis. Which was the hardest for you to kill?

Valvalis is probably the second strongest, gut for me none of em are truly hard.
Only time i had any difficulty,is when i had to fight all 4 of them at a time. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |

Hmm probably valvalis yeah.
Rubicante was ridiculously easy because of how weak he was to ice and by that time, you had several ice weapons+flood which did very high dmg. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |

My biggest problem is usually with Rubicante. Why? Because I pre-queue ice-type spells and by the time they hit he's closed his cloak. FML.

You dont even need to use a single ice spell to kill him . Just have Cecil and Kain equipped with ice weapons and have Rosa cast bserk on Cecil. You can also use flood to make the battle even quicker. As long as you are at a half decent level, he is cake to beat. I hope that helps make the battle easier and I stand by my decision of Valvalis -------------------- Stay Free |

He has pretty strong magic and you never get to kill him. I wonder how he does it to survive meteo and survive a really strong summoner? he must be really really strong. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. I pick Valvalis...but only because you don't have any black magic when you fight her the first time. It's mostly up to Kain's spear, and while it's awesome, it's also time consuming. When all four are fought at once they wither to level 3 spells of the appropriate element.

I'd have to say Scarmiglione, or Rubicante. I spent weeks on Scarmiglione, and weeks AGAIN on Rubicante. Just thinking about it makes me depressed.

I don't remember having much of a problem with any of them. Cagnazzo was by far the easiest. I think Scarmiglione was the most tedious.
Then again, I should have said Kainazzo and Milon, since I actually played the FFII (US) version, which is definitely easier than the other versions (except FF4 Easytype). -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros. valvalis, the wind one. Rubicante was easier than her, because of the whole steal trick thing with his leg. Cagnazzo was easy, because of the Thunder trick, and Scarmiglione is harder than Cagnazzo, but not as difficult as Valvalis, or Rubicante.

Valvalis and Rubicante are pretty much even as the toughest, but Rubes gives you a full heal treatment when you start the battle, so yeah...

In pre-DS versions, I always found Valvalis/Barbariccia hardest, simply because she could use Tornado on your characters and her physical counterattacks could hit pretty hard. Plus, you had no offensive magic to use against her, unlike the other three battles.
In the DS version, I honestly had most trouble with Scarmiglione (the undead version). Much more difficult in this version than the others. This post has been edited by Fatal on 27th September 2010 06:33 -------------------- |

I find Barbariccia to be the most difficult due to spamming tornado as well as having noo elemental weakness.
But if you go into the DS remake, then Cagnazzo always screwed me up. -------------------- The meaning of life is life itself. We were put on this earth to follow our dreams unabated. |

I really hate Valvalis or whatever she's called now, even on replays she always ends up killing me atleast once.

When I was a kid Scarmiglione gave me trouble to no end, and Barbariccia too. Rubes and Cag have always been cakewalks for me, probably due to the Black Mage presence in the party during both those fights. Scar eventually got easier when I learned to remember to reverse my party order on the second fight to avoid the back attack, and to get Palom leveled up enough so that he knew Bio before hand- a spell that basically rapes him. Barb, to date, remains the most died on fiend. Even when I have to fight all 4 at once!

Cagnazzo was pretty frustrating with the Tsunami attack and his love for the spell Slow.

I hate to say that Rubicant really was a pain in the ass for me but its the reason that someone above mentioned : Casting ice crap and it landing right when his cloak was closed. Then soon as it would happen, he would scorch one of my characters and they would KO then I would try to bring em back and it would just never recover correctly.

I'm going through the DS remake right now--considering I'm still stuck against Cagnazzo, he's my vote. I can't remember the later two that well from my first run-through (GBA).

Which are the hardest FF versions, btw?
NES/SNES (PSX is also quite the same regarding difficulty level, isn't it?) > GBA > NDS? I recall I had WAY more problems with the PSX versions of FF IV and V than I have with the GBA versions. Mostly counts for FF IV. At the psx I died over and over again at some bosses, while I was mostly able to kill any boss in the gba version with my first attempt. |

Babariccia/Valvalis is the hardest of the four fiends due to her lack of weakness.
Rubicante is 2nd because if I remember correctly, doesn't he couter with flare if you hit him with an Ice spell? Scarmiglione is 3rd hardest because he has a few nasty spels up his sleeve in his 2nd form. And poor Cagnazzo, the easiest of the four, has a water shield that can be easily negated by a thundara spell, but because you have Tella, you can just spam Thundara/Thundaga and kill him easily. -------------------- Oops! I can only say from my experience with the PSP version, where they all only took one try, that Barbariccia was probably hardest due to her incessant need to spam maelstrom. Scarmiglione was easy, where as Cagnazzo and Rubicante were simple once you figured out how to fight them.

Quote Casting ice crap and it landing right when his cloak was closed Doesn't his cloak absorb ice? Personally, it's a tie between Scarmiglione and Barbariccia. Scarmiglione has nasty attacks, plus the second round is a back attack [which sometimes catches me off-guard]. Barbariccia has Tornado/Maelstrom which are pretty annoying and Ray.
Rubicante for me was the easiest simply because I expected him to be difficult. What's the point of having an attack that's basically an instant-kill when taking a Fire spell to the cloak makes him cast Raise on the party? Every time Rydia used Shiva on him, he'd cast Blizzara on himself! XD Quote And, bumping my earlier question, what's the "steal trick" with Rubicante? In the DS version, having Edge use Steal on Rubicante causes him to close his cloak, causing him to use only physical attacks, protecting the party from his more-powerful moves. -------------------- Thank you for taking the time to read this sign. This sign loves you. |
