FF legends is a series on gameboy i have had for a long long time, and this is a very long thread.

FF legends 1 came out in around 1989 in japan, and it was the first of its kind, just like ff adventure.Because of that, it brought many good things, but it must be taken into account its age.

FF legends game story is about a tower to paradise and people have climbed it but nobody ever lived to see the end and tell a tale about it, and that is where you(a random chosen creature start your adventure)

You don't know, but in order to climb the tower you must first deal with 3 warring castles with kings and get their armor to get a orb to put in the door to get into the tower.

As you climb the tower, you will find entire worlds on each floor with harder creatures as you climb up.Each place has a set of problems that you must solve in order to climb to the top.Once you have done everything up until the end, you wil be prompted to skip all floors having a escalator ride to the top where you must fight a version 2 of each boss in the game, and then you will reach the top and fight the final boss.

Let me stop right here for a second:This is where people start to complain about the characters lacking story and there not being much info about the world.I would agree on the monsters not having much backstory, but i think it might have been a slight limitation of the time and also because you chose a random creature. As for the story of each thing going on:Yeah its very simplistic.

Animations:This game doesn't have much in terms of animations or anything that noticeable. Its floors aren't even animated.

Gameplay:

FF legends has a lot going for it, but it also has its flaws.First off:Stats are very random in what you get and don't get. Also:you can lose a spell and gain something completely useless like warning on your character, so you are forced to save and reset every time something bad happens.

Grinding for monsters:You are going to be forced to grind a lot for the right monster so you can be strong enough to beat the game, but every game has its own set of grinding and ff legends is no different, just a bit long winded is all.You might want to read a FAQ and find out which monsters are the best to aim for and such as i did. as i am not going to remember every single detail.I did beat this game without a guide when i was a kid though, guess i'm pretty hardcore.

Grinding for weapons and armor:everyone who played this knows 2 very unique things about this game:Bought spells shields and weapons break, armor does not. There is in fact only 1 piece of weapon that does not break, and it is at the very start of the game in one of the castles, and that is because its a quest item. There is tons and tons of grinding at the start of the game to get good stuff.

Stats for humans:At the start of the game you start out with very low stats, and you are forced to buy potions for humans of hp mana strength agility etc, but you lack the cash. You will have to buy loads and loads of health to get further in this game as you are going to get destroyed.Grinding for potions for humans is one of the things people complain about the most.

Saving:You can save anywhere, thus possible to be at a boss you cannot beat due to having low health no magic and no potions. The most famous is the final boss. The final boss is extremely difficult, and requires to be fairly prepared to beat, and double check to have every spell weapon required to win.

My opinionated score:80 out of 100.For its time it was quite a good game, but it had its share of flaws. You may skip to play FF legends 2 as a few of its problems are solved in the sequel.

FF legends 2:

FF legends added robots as a playable character.

Robots:Robots Don't grow at all, instead they get their stats hp from weapons armor items.Because they don't grow, you have to equip the right weapons to get them the stats they need, like agility and hit points and armor.

Guns:On robots, going into a inn and sleeping replenishes the gun uses, but when you equip a gun, the uses is cut in half for a robot always.

Magi:You can pick up items called magi in this game which can give you stats shield or even revive you.Magi is also part of the story.

So the story goes:When your chosen character is a kid, your dad wakes you up and gives you a magi called prism, and tells you to protect it with your life.Years pass and you are a adult and you are woken up by your mom and you decide to go find your missing dad and embark on a adventure to find the magi. You are given help as you are weak at the start of the game by being escorted to the first town of the game.At the very start of the game before you leave, you are promted to start your own party and choose who will be with you much like the first game.

You will find out people are taking magi and using it to become gods and you must stop these people and collect these said magi and protect them.

FF legends 3:

One of the first things you will notice, is that you can no longer choose who gets to be a mutant or a human. You can still give meat to turn people into monsters, but men are subject to being more melee friendly than girls.
I will continue when i replay FF legends 3 as i don't fully remember the game.

FF Legends 3 coming soon now that i just beat ff legends 2 again and remembered it all.

FF legends 3 has some solid music and time travelling.

So the story is:You are kids from the future, and the world has flooded so you are sent into the past and your elder took care of you and taught you how to survive. When you are teenagers youa re taught how to fight and shown a time machine car somewhat like the one from chrono trigger.

Things i dislike about the game:

I am ok with weapons not breaking, but i really don't like how you cannot choose who gets to be a mutant anymore. The game chooses automatically that girls are always healers and casters.I like being a caster so i like simulating myself as a caster in games because i don't like being in the frontline.

There is hardly any grinding except when you get to a new area and need to fight a new boss, you can pretty much expect whats next from this game.
