You're playing Origins, then? I'd say right after you get the airship, perhaps the desert in the north? If you've got the money to get the items, probably in the Sea Shrine too.

In the old school NES version, gold farming was as simple as entering the Hall of Giants in the Earth Cave. Decent exp, and one of the highest gp droppers in the game.

Depends on how far you've gotten by now, but if you've made it to the final dungeon on the way to Chaos, the temple in the past is a good place to train...thats how i got to max out my MP and HP, also now able to deal over 4000 damage per hit for my knight...
If at the sky temple, train at the desert or in one of the bonus dungeons...They can also be somewhat good training, especially the bosses inside -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. I just started this back up (NES version). I got the TNT and am now headed to Dwarfland, and gave the TNT to that dwarf. Where are some good places to level? My characters are at Level 13 right now, but there's like 6000-7000 EXP between levels and my characters only get 50-100 EXP per battle. Where should I level? Also, where are the shops in the Dwarfland? -CSM

There's that little hook of land north of Pravoka that has all the late game enemies on it. That's a good way to earn lots of EXP without much work. Just hope for large amounts of ZomBulls, and you can Harm and Fire 2/3 the hell out of em.
Right There Also, there are no shops in the Dwarf Cave.
