Clash on the Big Bridge is one of those that will very often come up when you ask a long-time Final Fantasy gamer about his or her favorite songs, which illuminates why it's a #2 seed here. There's no denying that this is a great battle theme, but I think it picks up a bit of additional cache as it remained underground for so long as one of the forgotten Final Fantasy games here in the west. This will always be a tough out for any other song it encounters, but it is beatable!
The theme for the brothers Edgar and Sabin is regal and bombastic, which is fully appropriate for these two; while Edgar's bombast takes the place of bravado and Sabin's is a more subtle kind, both men are strong-willed and of royal bearing in their own ways. This track explores that with horns' fanfare and rolling tympani. It's a debut track in this year's brackets. |

I am genuinely sick of hearing Edgar & Sabin's theme unless it is their medley part in the ending song. I always thought the Coin song was a better reflection of their fateful moment as brothers, when it came time to choose their path, especially since Edgar & Sabin never discuss the succession or choices made with anyone but each other (if I am remembering correctly).
Clash on the Big Bridge is just too fantastic and came out of left field in FF5. It was a whole other level of awesome that I felt the developers suddenly gave their all, in an otherwise okay game. |

A tired standard castle theme against a silly battle track I was meh about from the beginning....yeah, null voting this one. I suspect the winner here's gonna be utterly swallowed by Searching for Friends, anyway.

I was never a big fan of Clash on the Big Bridge. I feel that its main melody feels like a lot is happening but without a clear sense of musical direction, so the result is that its jump rhythm makes it sound unfittingly playful, when i'm looking for something intense.
The Figaro brothers' theme is appropriately regal and noble and also quite memorable. My vote goes to Edgar's & Sabin's Theme. -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros. "Coin Song" is much much better than "Edgar and Sabin's Theme", the horns of the latter tend to become grating over time. However, I feel that "Clash on the Big Bridge is underwhelming. I guess I had seen it hyped up so much over the years that when I actually played FFV a couple years ago I couldn't see what the big deal was. So I went with the FFVI song.

I came very close to nominating Coin Song, actually. -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros.
