Anyone else get nostalgic when hearing ff4's music and feel sad that these types of game are now rarer?

Anyone else love the ff4 music?

I don't feel nostalgia so much towards FFIV, but I certainly feel it towards FFX, FFVI and FFVIII. I think part of it is simply that those were some of the earlier games I played, but I certainly think that there is an element in those earlier games that made them feel differently.

I love FFIV music, but then again, I love everything about FFIV. I may have played FFI when I was just a couple of years old, but my real memories are of FFIV and playing through it for the first time. And a few dozen times since then.

I feel nostalgic any time I hear music from Shining Force I or II.

What is this topic about? Nostalgia or FF4 music? I don't follow.

Whatever you're trying to say, I don't freak out about RPGs not being how they used to. I love FF4's music but I am not sure it really gives me that much nostalgia outside the whole package of the game.

Those games are rare, but yeah, it's not a major deal. Mainly because, we still have these games. You don't want FFIV to be remade every single year. That could be too much of a good thing.

But, for me, as for nostalgia, I didn't play the game until recently, so I can't really have nostalgia for it.

I love FF4 and its music. Battle with the Four Fiends is the second song that comes

to mind when I think of VG music. The first is some random song from SOTC. Not

any solitary one in particular but just random songs from the game.

I don't have too much nostalgia for the FFIV game as a whole, but its relatively simple classical JRPG gameplay is a nice thing that I sometimes miss amongst the complex systems in some modern-day JRPGs.

The music is mid-period Uematsu, and the beginning of when he came into his prime. Uematsu's style didn't do extraordinarily well with the NES's limited sound capabilities, but he began to shine when given more instruments, since his style makes a lot of use of instrument choices and orchestration.

Hmm, you know it's weird, because I did, even though I didn't have experience with the game beforehand. For me, those NES to early SNES era games just have that kind of quality.

I mean, cool, gameplay depth and all with all those Djinn and Espers and Sphere Grids and Overdrive Bars and such, but...

...what if we're not into all that? What if we want a more streamlined experience?

That's one thing I like about Active Time Battle (ATB, not to be confused with the band known as ATB), which incidentally also originated in FFIV. It's an improvement to the battle system, and it's also one that streamlines the experience, rather than adding lots of bells and whistles that complicate it.

Yeah, the non-ATB system is very slow. FFI (at least the VC version, don't know about any other version) is very, very slow, even though it's fun.

But I though FFIV had it's difficult moments, which I liked quite a bit.
