Hey guys, I am new to the forums here, but have been reading Caves of Narshe for years, whenever I wanted to feel nostalgic for the good old days of final fantasy.
So I have a request for anyone checking out these posts: What do you think is the coolest fight in the game? It can be a boss fight, or random enemy, I've been playing and watching let's plays trying to make up my mind for the 'Coolest' fight in the game. The reason why I'm looking (and asking on here) is that I want to make an animation of the coolest battle in the game. I am a television animator in Ottawa Canada, and (as we often do) I have been thinking about starting up another side project. If I can figure out what I want to make, I might even put together a kick starter to pay some of my super talented friends to help out and make something really cool. I am open to anyone's suggestions, and If anyone wants to send me a youtube link to an actual filmed battle, that would be amazing. My favourite party members for an animation like this would be Sabin, Cyan, and Terra. I think they are the most dynamic characters, but that 4th slot could really be anyone (every character is amazing). Anyways!! tlDr amiright? hopefully you read this, and got this far. Thanks for any advice, or suggestions up front, I have been doodling these characters for a while, but I want to animate a FULL fight, and keep track of every action, misses, hits, hitpoints, everything. so the most interesting the fight, the better! THANKS!!!! |

OH, I forgot to mention, Short and Sweet is also something to consider... a long fight probably means I would have to take short cuts, or never end up finishing it,
THanks again!! |

I think the battles during the escape from the Magitek Factory would be cool to animate. Maybe the fight against the Phantom Train too (what's cooler than fighting a train?).
As an obvious choice, the final battle would also make a great animation. |

Well...
For pure audacity, and if you wanted to touch on the rather...wry nature of the Final Fantasy VI community's sense of humor, you could animate the battle with the Phantom Train. Just remember, Sabin has to use his Suplex technique at some point. -------------------- X is blue. |

you know what... I think my original post will still stand, BUT you are totally right... I think I should just animate a .gif of Sabin suplexing the stuffing out of that train, maybe just to get warmed up. Once that's out of my system, I can try to think of another enemy..
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Ultros was brought up, he has been on my mind as well, but hes a damn octopus..... and they are pretty difficult to animate... |

For me personally, the Tunnel Armor fight at the end of the Locke and Celes quest has always stuck out.
Since Sabin and Cyan are favorites of yours, you could do the escape from the Imperial Camp after the poisoning of Doma. -------------------- Wha? Thanks to me? |

I can think of a couple that I still remember as being cool from twenty years ago when I first played the game. Both Vargas and Dadaluma are cool fights to me because of the dramatic aspects; the former for Sabin's entrance, and the latter for Dadaluma's chatty nature.
Chadarnook might be another fun one due to the swapping from goddess to demon, and Relm hanging out and painting just off-camera. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Thanks a lot for the replies! I made a quick board of a Suplex-based fight with Sabin, Cyan and Shadow with the phantom train. Its pretty simple, and shouldnt be too crazy to create. I'll keep youse guys posted whenever i make some progress. I have a deviant art account that ill post links to i guess.
Thanks again, and if anyone wants to continue adding to this thread, I love more opinions!! |

Is my memory bad or does the party fight that train then board it again (despite defeating it...)? There was a cutsene at the end where you get off the train and then Cyan says good bye to his family. So I don't understand why there was even a fight with that train any more...

Whether it actually happened or not, some of the other party members likely don't believe him about every single detail. Edgar still likely doubts some of the story, particularly the detail of having battled piranhas while falling down a waterfall...? Sabin might've made the whole story about the Phantom Forest up for all we know. It'd be funny if Cyan had denied it later, but then we get to see his dreams about it...which is a sentence I don't usually use when it comes to video games. -------------------- X is blue. |

My personal favorite is the battle at the top of the Fanatics' Tower, because of all the magic.

Also, your real name would be nice to give you credit. Events with Terra, Cyan, and Sabin might include the final battles. If that's overdone or rehashed consider anything as long as it's believable. It's difficult to say there's a coolest fight. Even some normal battles have their moments. I'd consider in the air, over water, near a mountain range, on the airship with a desperate fight against Doomgaze. A dying world in a sunset, even when you're high you still feel low. -------------------- https://www.youtube.com/user/Greatermaxim Terra - LV 99 - HP 9999 - MP 999 Equipment - - - Abilities Illumina - - - - - Fight Genji Shield - - Morph Oath Veil - - - - Magic Minerva - - - - - Item Ribbon Economizer |
