To my knowledge he is simply representing the fighter/Knight class in all its glory.

I think that's Garland. Can't confirm it, but I just have a feeling.

Yeah i think thats Garland too. Just because Garland was Blue and, the Knights/Fighters in that game are Red. Unless its just a Blue Knight/Fighter. Im not really sure.

It's a Light Warrior, as evidenced by the Amano artwork and game logo. I can't imagine why it'd be Garland.

Actually, I thought Garland was in the Logo.

One would presume that the Crystal he wears around his neck makes him a Light Warrior.

I'm 100% sure it's Garland with the Dark Crystal around his neck (the dark crystal is sitting in the Chaos Shrine... right beside Garland)

Then again, we see Garland OWNING a red dragon.... although I just OWNED Garland with 4 white mages at lvl 1 lol....

It's not a Light Warrior, light warriors are 4... and we are the light warriors.

and to be honest, even though the cinematic is nice, I dont get it... what's the point of it? It's not related AT ALL with the story..

That makes no sense. Why would Garland have the spherical Dark Crystal around his neck? Did it not require the four powered-up crystals to move? The cutscene was added in the PS1 version, just for the sake of it. There's no connection to the storyline (Except maybe to show how the crystals once shone). Who said the four Light Warriors always journeyed together?

It would make sense to put Garland as the "emblem" of FF1 as for the light warriors are rather anonymus. Garland is the character with the most "developed" story. He's the first and last boss after all, it's all starting with him, end ending with him.

My feeling is that he got corrupted by the dark crystal (like the one ring!) He even says that he got saved by the power of the fiends after you beat him in the temple of Chaos. They send him back in time and you need the power of the 4 crystals to do so, but dont forget that the fiends ARE the power in the beginning of the game, it's only when you defeat them that you put the power "back in the crystals". Once the crystals are charged, you can use them on the dark crystal to move back in time. The fiends just did that with garland.

but again... THE CUTSCENE MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. a good example of this is... you ever saw any red dragon in game? Blue, yes, green, yes, maybe yellow... but red?

When you beat FF1 Origins and get the photo galleries, one of the pictures is called "The Light and the Darkness". It has the man who fought the dragon, and a dark knight standing behind him. My guess would be that the man is the Light Warrior ("The Light") and the dark knight is Garland ("The Darkness"). In addition, if you beat the game twice to get additional photos, there's a picture called "Time Traveler", and it looks like the same dark knight as the one in "The Light and the Darkness" picture. I think this indicates that Garland has his own character art, and he's not the man from the opening FMV."

Yeah, there's absoluely no way it could be Garland. For starters, Garland wears black armor that covers his face.

I agree w/most - the crystal gives it away. He's a light warrior.

Yeah, there's a red dragon guarding a chest at the bottom of the volcano. He's cleverly placed so that you fight him again after you get the chest.

(At least in the NES version. Maybe they nerfed that for PS1, I don't remember.)

Granted, the fight sure doesn't look like it takes place in the bottom of a volcano.
