Hey guys. I've been contemplating playing through FF5 again lately (though my PS2 is on the other side of the continent) and I was wondering something.

When I played through FF5, though I loved the heck out of it, I found that I needed to do a lot of levelling up of my characters, mastering jobs, dying, and wandering around, and my stats were still kind of low after 59 hours or something. Now, I did do some dumb things like making a couple characters have tons of magic and a couple others have tons of attack power, so maybe it could have been more leisurely.

My question is: did you folks have a similar experience, and/or do you have any advice about advancing through the game without wasting time losing and then reorgainizing and levelling up and so on and so on?

The way I normally play does involve alot of time, but not too many breaks.
What I do is progress normally through the game, never changing jobs until they are mastered. Then, in World 2, the first time you get to wander aroung Bal (Galuf's) castle, go to the basement and waste the statues there with Softs until I get every job mastered. I have found that during this, alot of money is to be gained (you turn out a very large profit) and you level up quite nicely to where you won't have to stop the progression of the game to be at a suitable level. This takes 10-20 hours, at most, but at least you won't have to make any more pauses in the game to level.

Yes soft work like a little wonder for mastering classes, but heres a helpful tip

there is a blue magic skill that is really helpful, mainly level 5 death from the library of the ancients its helpful in a few boss battles
*especially the one against the gant cannon, since it will destroy the lasers to make it a lot easier
another helpful skill is $toss this skill makes the boss battles against multiple enemies such as tree segments a lot easier

with these hints you shouldnt have to level up so much

maybe this is a bit weird, but whenever i get to a new town or dungeon i level up two levels for each character. I have never had a problem with levels by doing this. And my characters always seem strong enough to fight any battle.
