The save point around the place you fight Necrophobe is a great place to get ability points. Movers give good AP.

Right before you fight Ex-Death there's a save point to the right, in fact it's in the screen that's right before the big tree. You have to fight a boss to access the point though. The boss is Necrophobe. |

I beat him too.

The best spot for experience is still in the n-zone, back in the castle near where you fight that Halycanos or whatever its name was. Go back, and there's sort of a shortcut to move back through the castle a bit quicker. There should be a switch on the wall. In that room you'll fight Iron Giants frequently, which give good experience. IIRC, it's the best experience you can get in the game, but be warned that it's not TOO high.
