Out of curiosity, what was the lowest level you defeated Chaos or Warmech with which party. And what consol you played on eg NES.
Also I want an idea of what level I need to be to beat him. |

Usually in the 30s in the NES version. In DoS, probably around the 50s. My favorite party was Knight, Master, Red Wizard, and White Wizard.

I have a brief story to tell:
I was at level 38 for all of my characters, with two Knights, a White Wizard and a Black Wizard. Their names were BULL, JACK, ROSE, and MOON. I couldn't beat the damn thing after hours and hours of trying multiple times (I was probably around 10 or 11), so I put the game away. Then, at least two years later, I decided to sell my NES and all its games. I was going through my dozen or so games and found FF I, remembering that I had never beaten it. I plugged it in again for the first time in two years and then beat Chaos on my first try. I still can't explain why or how it happened. Upper 20s, somewhere between 26-28. I'm pretty sure I've done it with 26s across the board, but I don't remember, it's been a while.
Which party do you want? All Knights? All Masters? All Red Wizards? Balanced of Knight, White Wizard, Black Wizard, (insert place holder)? Magical balance of two Red Wizards, White Wizard, Black Wizard? All on the original NES. I tried the all White Mage party on the NES, it was suicide. I couldn't get the Crown from the Wizards (now called Piscodemons) that guarded it in the Cave of Marsh. (Cave of Marsh...Caves of Narshe...hmm. Not meant to be insulting there, I like this place, in spite of my prolonged absences.) So yeah, when the watered down versions got re-released, the only thing I was happy for was more room to store armor and being able to buy 99 HEAL potions with just a few button taps, instead of 297. And these are all for beating Chaos. I want nothing to do with that damn robot Warmech unless I'm strong enough to kill Chaos already and feel like racking up some more 8th level spell slots for the sheer joy of it. I think the party my friend and I did that with had two Black Mages, so we could NUKE him quick before he got the best of us. Wasn't easy, either. -------------------- "Getting upset over a trifle would indeed be unmannerly." -Afra to Damia |

The only game I managed to ever get to level 99 on was KH2, but a basic rule about FF games, is that if you're level sixty or higher the last boss is easy

Square's final bosses are calculated for a party/hero around level 50. Any higher and they become pushovers. (Xemnas can't kill my overleveled Sora in KH2 even if I just stand and wait)
Optionals, like Warmech (FFI) Omega and Shinryuu (FF5) or Sephiroth (KH), require either special preparation (Equipment and tactics for FF5) or more skill from the player (Kingdom Hearts' Sephiroth) rather than character level. Also, I dunno what all the fuss about Warmech is. Each time I play and meet it, it falls in the first round, before doing anything. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. You aren't referring to the Warmech from FFI's NES incarnation. I'm sure it's possible to take it out in the first round, but every time you face it? They must have made it a pushover in the DS version, because the original NES version was a BEAST. FFI players the world over trembled in fear as they crossed that long-ass bridge. Not because of what waited at the end of it, but because of what lurked in the middle of it. I actually AM referring to the NES version. Still, out of all my FFI playthroughs, I've only met it thrice, and had damage-dealing focused parties. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. I believe that my stats were around 40-something on the NES version when I beat Chaos. I think that my highest was 50-something, butit's been so long, I hardly remember a thing about it. DoS, it was 97 (highest).
As for my party, I think it was Thief Knight Black Mage Red Mage DoS. For some reason, that's the party I choose every time I play. I think that it balances out well. NES, I had no idea. I do remember having a Black Mage in my party the first time I played it. This post has been edited by Diffused on 22nd June 2007 21:37 |

Warmech: 26, 25, 24, 24 - Knight x2, Master, and Wh. Wiz. - although only the master survived and had only 66 hp left....he nuked instead of attacked. XD
I think I was in the low-to-mid 40's on Chaos. Both were the same game - and on Origins/original difficulty. -------------------- 'As the Sun touches the ocean - I know it touches you. As the night kisses the moonlight I still think of you.' - Milk, Inc. <3 |
