I need help on Lavos (Inside the shell thingy). I can destroy his 2 arms easily but after I do that he starts to kill my party. What I was going to do is have Crono use Lumminare on Lavos, while Frog/Ayla or Frog/Robo heal the party with Cure Beam or Slurp Kiss, but I was tempted to use 3-D attack, All I need is some tips to beat him, If you can thanks, if not that is okay. (BTW, I already did Black Omen and that was a pain.)

There are so many different "ways" to beat him. It's little more than a balance of keeping your hp and laying down the damage, if your really still having trouble then level up. Or you can do my favorite strategy of keeping working at it until you get it...you'll evenetually learn the patterns of his attacks and be able to prepare. Make sure you have someone on your team that can heal the whole party. You'll get that weirdo eventually.

Some quick tips:
Wear Prism Helms/Nova Armors/Amulet to lock your status. If you got the Dress instead, use Haste Helms to increase your speed.
Use ALL of the characters for offense. Deal as much damage as you can before he gets his big attacks off. Heal afterwards with a combo heal or a MegaElixir.
Study his pattern. If you know what's coming next, you can prepare.
Give Crono as many tabs as you can.

If these doesn't work, you could always be cheap and Lifeline your way through.

In which era did you do the Black Omen? If you did it in 1000 AD, you'll find it still exists in 600 AD and 12000 BC (and if you did it in 600 AD, it still exists in 12000 BC but not 1000 AD). If it does still exist in some time periods, go through again for experience, and items -- you can charm some great stuff from the enemies in there, including a Prism Helm from one of Zeal's hands, a Prism Dress from the other, HyperEthers from a lot of enemies and Megalixirs from several. You can actually end up with six prism helms and three prism dresses if you take helms from Melchior and do the Black Omen in all three possible time periods.

Anyway, with all the experience and items you can get from that, Lavos isn't so tough any more. And rather than Luminaire, try using Confuse once it's just the head part left since it costs fewer MP. Crono and Ayla's Falcon Hit is very useful for taking the hands away quickly in the first instance.

Well, I did it in 600 A.D. and 12000 B.C. (In that order) and I did most of the sub quests (Execpt that son of sun and the Northern Ruins ones) and well I managed to beat Lavos just a few minutes ago and even though I could have used Robo/Lucca/Magus (with Omega Flare!), I stuck with Crono/Ayla/Frog at levels 56-58 and used 3-D attack and whupped him, so thanks for all of the advice people because now I beat Chrono Trigger!

Okay, here is a very effective strategy if you have Crono, Robo, and Ayla in your party:

Perform horizontal Techs such as Falcon Hit with Crono and Ayla while Robo uses his Uzzi Punch on either arm to eliminate the arms quickly. Once the arms are defeated use Crono's Luminaire, Robo's Shock, and Ayla's Triple Kick to take out the body in no time. Have Robo use Heal Beam when necessary. I would also suggest having your party at Level 50 or higher to make this battle go quite smoothly.
