I know most folks here aren't into the Squenix mobile games, but I feel obligated to share this anyway.

A new tactical mobile game set in the Brave Exvius universe is due to come out this spring, and pre-registrations for global are now open! You can register here: https://prereg.wotvffbe.com

I'm quite excited. I love FFBE and would love to see more of that world. I've also greatly enjoyed playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance so am looking forward to this app's gameplay. It should be a lot of fun!

The more people that pre-register, the greater the rewards will be. I'm hoping they'll be enough registrations to snare the Y'Shtola unit, as I'm a dedicated XIV player.

If anyone wants to add me on FFBE, I've got slots open! My ID is 965,432,229 and my in-game name is AltheaV.

First: I hope everyone is safe and healthy.

War of the Visions launched on the 25th. We reached all the pre-registration milestones (including an extra one that was added when we blew through the early milestones) so I got my Y'Shtola I wanted. I haven't had enough time to really sink my teeth into it, but here's some first impressions.

It's supposed to be a spin-off of Brave Exvius, but it doesn't feel like it. It takes place on the same planet as BE but on a continent we hadn't seen before. This means that most of the characters are new. There is a King, I believe Oleade is his name, who has twin sons. I like the twins, but am unsure how I feel about the king so far.

There is also a Lady from another kingdom. Bandits forced her into Oleade's territory, and now she is with their party.

Oleade's family has a ring that allows them to call visions to fight alongside them, this setting up the gacha aspects of this game. I did the special launch step-up summon. I was really hoping for Mediena, a mage we know from Exvius, but I got the king instead. He's a lancer, which slightly disappointed me because I had pulled a mega rare dragoon already.

I do wish they had kept the same terminology for summoning as Exvius has. In Exvius, rarity is referred to by stars, with the higher numbers being better. There are 1 and 2 star units, but those are summoned with friend points. The rare summons start with 3* units, which come down as a blue crystal. 4* crystals are gold, and 5* are rainbow. War of the Visions does use the same color of crystals, but calls it's units rare, mega rare, and ultra rare. I don't like it as much, though I'll get used to it.

The in-game currency is called Visiore. Unlike Exvius, where you use your currency to make lots of summons in hopes of pulling good units, in WOTV you should pull rarely, only in banners where you really want someone. Instead, you should use your visiore to buy shards, which make your characters stronger. It was suggested to focus on a few characters rather than a bunch.

Like Exvius, you can only level your characters up to a certain point, then you need to awaken them to up their max level. This is common in gacha games, so nothing new here. There's also a method for leveling jobs, but I haven't delved too much into that.

I went through the beginner tutorials, at least some of them. The first one said to tap the magnifying glass to see the enemy's weaknesses. I couldn't figure out how to do this! I was able to view my own characters, but not the enemy. Hmm.

During one of the early story missions, they have you set auto-battle on. I haven't bothered to turn off auto yet, so I've been watching the game play itself. Battles take significantly longer than Exvius battles. I think there's something you can get to speed up the battles, but as a friend said, this is not a game you can pick up for a few minutes.

It also feels like they want you to play a significant amount of time per day. Like most gacha games, there are daily missions. In Exvius, the mission is three story missions a day, but in WOTV it's five. WOTV also has more daily missions in offer than Exvius did for years (Exvius just upped their daily missions to offer more). I have yet to complete a full day's missions in WOTV, so I don't know what kind of rewards you get from the treasure chests in the mission window.

I expect a lot of time will be spent in the shop. This is not just a cash shop (I'm strictly free to play) but it's where you go to spend Visiore for shards. The shop updates every six hours, so I anticipate that eventually the first thing I do after logging in will be to check the shop.

The first collaboration event is a FFXIV event. Apparently, they changed some things for the global release, because you can spend event currency to obtain Thancred, which wasn't an option in Japan. Since I'm a huge Thancred fan I plan on doing some heavy farming to be able to afford him.

Wow, guess I had more to say than I expected at first! If anyone decides to play and wants to add me, my ID is 421186431
