Caves of Narshe Forums > Final Fantasy Tactics > Best Reaction for Mustadio?

Posted by: WhiteMageAeris 22nd July 2008 03:04
I'm replaying FFT (again... love love love this game) and I want to keep Mustadio with a gun (via equip gun). I think I am going to have him a gun-toting mage, cause I think that's awesome. My question is, what do people think a good reaction skill for him would be, since my stand-by of Counter is kinda crap for a gun user. Any thoughts?

I tried giving him Counter, but it never worked, so I'd ignore Counter and First Strike. Due to the fact that his Bravery level is 60 when he starts, I would either use Auto-Potion or the Archer's Adrenaline Rush (900 JP) which increases his Speed by 1 every time he's hit.

Adrenaline Rush / Speed Save is a great skill, but only if he has a way of healing himself easily (no Chantage, more worries). I'd give him some good equipment to boost evade, like a Feather Mantle and the best armor and helm available, and then give him Auto Potion, MP Switch, or Abandon. Using MP Switch and Move-MP Up is one of my favorite combinations in the game, but you should only use the MP Switch if you're planning on him using his gun and not spells.

At the moment he's just got GIlgame Heart for the hell of it, didn't really have any other good ones for him. I'm thinking of giving him the geomancer reaction, I forgot what its called, where he attacks with geomancer moves when hit. *checks in game* Counter Flood. Yeah. That's what it's called. I figure that should be a good one, unless he has to actually LEARN all the geomancer moves... does anyone know if that's the case?

snipe, battle skill, transparent (sunken state) for reaction, defense up for support, and move+3 for move (he can flee) biggrin.gif

Counter Flood works based on Geomancy skills he's already learned; so yes, to
be an effective automatic counter, it'd be best if he had every Geomancy skill known.

So you want to copy the menthor i've never known, KingDelita of this forum eh ?
It's a good choice biggrin.gif
The best thing you have to pick if you want make your mustadio a Gunner/Wizard to me is giving him as Reaction is Bard's MA Save.

My recommendation would be to give him your best mantle (feather mantle) and go with Abandon. I'd say speed save since his innate skills utilize speed in their success rate, but as has been pointed out, you can't be worry free with Chantage and so it may be more hassle than it's worth.

By the way using the FeatherWave Mantle combined with Abandon is good for every character. Not only for a Mustadio, a mage, or anybody else.

of course another good idea is having him learn HP Restore, the monk move, so that good chances are he will fully heal when weakened. I find it is a pretty handy move to have.

Most of the time my Musty is a Chemist so he can still use a gun and still have another open slot.

My Priest with a gun (Named Django) had Regenerator for a reaction most of the time.

Counter Magic would work sense he's going to have the MP for it along with Move-MP.

By the way: Which magic are you using?

I believe that it's called "Damage Split" That's my favorite for him

My Mustadios usually end up as chemists, then ninjas, like so:
Throw
Item or Snipe
Speed Save
Throw Item or Defense Up
Move +3

My recommendation would be to give him your best mantle (feather mantle) and go with Abandon.

I go this route, too, since I use him as my item-finder (so low brave).

I ultimately even give him Equip Shield for the Kaiser Plate (for the elemental guns), further strengthening Abandon.
