NOTE: This is not sarcastic, or passive-aggressive, just a question.

Okay... let me ask y'all something. I guess this kind of directed toward the mods/admins/whatever. I got a message from R-51, alleging me of 'spamming' because I would post something short, like 'Mwahaha', because I thought something that someone said was funny. Apparently, this is not allowed, and I'd like to know why. This forum is about video games, and I assumed it was meant to be a gathering place for people to talk about video games. All I think I'm doing is adding little bits to a conversation, even if they aren't super-important. If this 'fun' forum is meant as a gathering place, why can't I add simple comments? Also, I'm not posting big images and taking up your bandwidth or anything. I'm not posting ten times in a row. I try to say something more creative than 'lol'. In fact, I don't see how I'm hurting the forum in any way. If this place is meant only for people who have deep and meaningful things to add, I guess I don't belong here. I'm just here for the fun value. Again, not trying to be critical or sarcastic. Please answer.

What spam does is clutter the thread with posts that don't add to the topic, so when someone goes into a thread for actual information, they find a lot of posts about nothing instead. It's not about killing the fun, it's about making sure that topics stay on-topic and don't deviate or get cluttered up with a lot of one-line posts that don't add anything to the topic.

That's the theme: at least add something to the discussion that can be useful or informative.

Is this a fun, conversational Final Fantasy board, or more of a game help and information board?

A post that's "haha funny" is spam, but a post that's a straight joke is usually okay, or won't get you in much trouble. It depends on context, 'cause even a joke can add to the thread. Gimme a moment and I'll find you an example.

Read it, and pay attention to Tidu-Who's post. Posts like that are the "good" kinda "spam". =)

Just don't do too many of them, 'cause then it just gets old... What it is is that this just isn't the place for posts like "haha that was funny ", 'cause, well... we already know, and it just doesn't do anything for the topic. :-/.

I know several forums that get two posts a day if you find this one too crowded.

But to be perfectly honest, nobody cares if you say something's funny by saying "mwahaha" or something like that. People who come to the forums looking for any sort of actual discussion and find nothing but posts like that instead will be disappointed, don't you think?

The posts that you found funny exist because those posters put thought or at least wit in their posts - that justifies their existance. If everyone made posts like yours, there would be no conversation here. Just an AOL chat.

I've often wondered when I would get my first warning. I try not to double-post or post dumb shit..... So far, I've been ok... but then, in the Replace Crusader thread.... it happened. I got Mod-Edited. Still no warning, but that was my first brush with the CoN Law. GOD, it felt good.
