You know what it is. The NCAA Men's Basketball pool. It's been a CoN tradition for six years now, and the seventh installment might just be the best yet - it's up to you. I myself am returning to defend my title from last year, having beaten out 25 of you other bozos; however, I will admit I haven't watched nearly enough basketball this year, so I fully expect one of you to dethrone me.
http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/...&P=flanprincess Group Name: CoNCAA Group ID: 10155 Group Pass: flanprincess There's been a prize the last couple years, and there probably will be this time around, too, but I think we still need at least twenty people to jump on board to make it worthwhile. Well, I plan on doing better than 22nd this year. I also plan on researching into my decisions instead of wildly guessing.
I also think Neal might end me. |

Well, college basketball is maybe my favorite sports subculture, and I usually do pretty well at this bracketology nonsense, so I'm game. And fun fact: if you look at my yahoo fantasy sports history, I always finish in the top half of events that I actually see through to the end, and I always finish in the bottom 2-3 players when I give up halfway through. No joke.

Let's get grabbing those redeemers and losing brackets hillariously. I want to see craters, people.

My spring break falls over the first and second rounds. Life is good.
I need to not come in in the bottom half of the bracket this time. I got D. And Magic Johnson. There, that's all the B-Ball intel I've got to go on. Last year I spoke to a guy from Seattle and his wife about this in a pub. It's good convo for American tourists. As long as I don't get less than 20th, I'll know I've been more lucky this year than last, as if I need anything else to tell me.

Just wanted to spread the word: If you don't think you have access to enough televised March Madness, then go sign up for March Madness On Demand at NCAA.com (or CBS Sports) to get nearly every game on the schedule streaming with only a few seconds delay. It's completely free, I've been doing it for a couple years now, and there are no strings attached.
Don't miss out on any games! I tend to be switching between two on the TV and watching the rest through the intarwebs. Can you imagine? Five or six games at once?!?! -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

Oh wow excellent! Thanks a ton. I was going to go to a stupidly expensive pub (with stupidly bright lighting) to watch some of it so you've saved me some money on drink and corrective lenses.

I was at the game last night where Sean Singletary pretty much embarrassed Maryland out of a NCAA bid. You're welcome, Kaps and SuMo.

I would be more spiteful if I had any hope left from the last 5 pathetic games, any particular love for this ragtag MD group (they have their moments, though), or if UVA stood a snowball's chance in hell in making the dance. Singletary's a beast though. Gotta respect. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

We have had a horribly disappointing season this year (the first two games i went to, against Tech and Syracuse, were enormous letdowns in the final few minutes), but Singletary is going to go down as one of my all-time favorite collegiate players, right up there with Josh Howard and Juan Dixon. Right now I'm just hoping for a season above the .500 mark. And the weirdest thing is, our basketball team hugely underachieved and likely cost Singletary draft pick status while our football team hugely overachieved and brought out the Hulk in Chris Long, who is probably going in the top five draft picks. We're an ACC school, isn't that backwards? -------------------- |

What's this? Illinois, seeded second-to-last in the Big Ten, picks up two consecutive upsets to move into the semifinals? Surely it ends tomorrow, but come on, gotta love that they're finally starting to play, with wins over Minnesota, Penn State, and Purdue in a row.
Also: holy cow @ Georgia Dome. Also: WOW @ Minnesota. Maybe Illinois can repeat what they did a week ago. Long overdue joining.
I ranked 4th last year, but I felt more like an embittered 2nd. All I needed was for Ohio State to win and I took the whole thing. Stupid Gators . One thing that I'm definitely thankful for is the sure addition of the Huskies, who were so horrible last year they didn't even make it. How weird was that? It's going to be hard to put my bias behind me and judge them accordingly. While I don't think they'll win the whole thing, I have a feeling they could definitely make some noise in opening weekend. If Illinois upsets Wisconsin tomorrow, what seed do you think they get? I have to think 13. I'm going to be rooting for them, though.

No higher than 12, but more likely 13 or 14. Of course, it's all very likely to be a moot point anyway; Brian Butch alone should be able to handle it.

The bracket is now selected, and you can make your picks any time and as many times as you want before Thursday morning (Eastern time, USA). Don't go to the trouble of signing up and then forgetting to make your picks.
You still have until that same time Thursday to sign up, too. Turnout's been kind of disappointing so far this year, make sure you get in! -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |
