Since I had one thread turned into one big sketch dump for all the stuph I done of the female persuasion, figure I'd make one spot for all my misc fanart...hence the title. tongue.gif Ah boredom...will you ever let me down?

Ahkay, first up we have fanart from a movie no one has ever heard of. Way of the Gun. Done by the guy who wrote The Usual Suspects...another movie most of you wouldn't know...as opposed to all of you...like for the Way of the Gun. I read that line a few times and it makes sense to me, so shaddap 'n look at the purty picture. tongue.gif

Now something a bit more familiar...

Ooh. I like the design on the first one, and the artwork is good on the second, but i can't pinpoint the last character...he kinda looks like an angry vicar tongue.gif

Posted by: Bum's Rush 28th September 2005 23:00
Being the KP freak that I am, that's Dr. Drakken. Both of the sketches came out really well thumbup.gif ! And yes I don't know of the movie, I don't know a lot of movies, is that so wrong? (looks at the purty pictures)

Posted by: Worldwyrm 30th September 2005 23:33
I just love the first one. The second one is okay. You did a really good job.

Posted by: tanya 3rd October 2005 03:21
Your drawings are so good.. I like Kim Possible. You have a future with Disney as an animator!

Posted by: Narratorway 3rd October 2005 20:58
Well, they's having another sketch jamon another forum. The theme this month is swords and sorcery, so I hit 'em with some GENERIC FANTASY ART! *BAM*

user posted image

Wizards just some old dude face I was making, then attached robes with. Might end up putting some photoshop lens flare horsepucky above his hand or something like that. The other guy is either Conan fanart or just GENERIC BARBARIAN *BAM*. But for the sake of the thread title, we'll say iz Conan (by Crom!).

Posted by: Galsic 3rd October 2005 21:10
Then, for the sake of the thread title, who's the wizard? Hmm?

As always, I dig your sketches thumbup.gif , although I can't tell whether the mystery wizard has awkward-looking sideburns or if those are jest Prince Charles ears.

Posted by: Bum's Rush 3rd October 2005 21:24
Or Spock ears, give it another bam from the Spice Weasel! Very nice as always.

Posted by: Narratorway 5th October 2005 08:10
Oh chief I never kiss and tell. It's up to you to find out where the wizard came from...as well as this picture. tongue.gif

user posted image

Oh and speaking of the wizard, I updated the picture he's in with another character. Here's another picture I honestly can't remember if I've shown around here a'fore. So here it is...possibly again. tongue.gif

Posted by: Galsic 5th October 2005 09:59
"Oh chief I never kiss and tell. It's up to you to find out where the wizard came from...," lol, pulease! Methinks you're full of it tongue.gif .

Through all the sketches I've seen posted from ye, one thing I've noticed is your ability to depict movement. Seriously, I'm impressed...does that come naturally to ye now, or do ye still have to look to, ahhh, references...like I do?

Posted by: Narratorway 8th October 2005 07:29
As are we all, as are we all. Just ordered the next issue of the colored version of Bone, so I boned up on my big ass black and white one with the whole story in'it. Pulled out the itch for some Bone fanart.

user posted image

Posted by: Bum's Rush 10th October 2005 15:14
Great pics once again, you really do seem to have a thing for poses and movement as Galsic said, I always have slight trouble with that.

Posted by: Rujuken 10th October 2005 23:26
The elf girl in the robe is very well done. I think her pose and the flow of her hair and robe is fantastic. Maybe consider doing something more with that one since its so good.

Posted by: Narratorway 14th October 2005 07:01
Continueing on the fantasy theme, I popped this sucka out a couple hours ago. Fun sketch, and easy enough to color, I'll prolly finish up the half assed shading tomorrow.

Kind of reminds me of a Sloth or something, hard to put my finger on it. Excellent job as always.

Posted by: Narratorway 19th October 2005 06:05
Continueing with the fantasy fanart theme that I'm going with for the month, I spun out this lovely lil blast from my hazy past.

By the by Bum, the previous character is an ardvark. Goes by the name of Cerebus.

Posted by: Rujuken 20th October 2005 03:55
Ardvark huh? I was gonna guess pig, but I knew that wasn't right. Impressive, even if it isn't a pig warrior. Everyone know pigs are better with a sword than ardvarks.

I like the last pics body structure a lot. Until recently I only remember you drawing characters with thin arms and legs. I like the way you do the limb muscles for this guy and the barbarian.

Posted by: Narratorway 27th October 2005 04:39
I happened upon a recent VG Cats comic and found it funny as hell because it illustrated something I've always felt compelled to announce in some fashion. Since the artist there was brave enough to hint at the obvious, I finally decided to just shout it out loud in a brazen fashion.

http://www.neilpolenske.com/drawings/notMutant.jpg (Linked due to naughty waughty language)

As I looked at it, I realized it kinda comes off PA one pass rip off, both in style and the joke, but it really wasn't the intention. We just tend to see eye to eye on things. tongue.gif

Posted by: Narratorway 2nd November 2005 06:26
Well, new month, new theme: Foriegn superheroes. Eh, whatever it takes to get me to draw...

Posted by: Galsic 2nd November 2005 07:51
Lol, ye sure likes your skinny folk and, up til now, they actually worked for me. I think ye went a wee bit too far this time, though, at least with the wrists and ankles. For someone who's supposed to come off as strong, she looks pretty fragile; like her hands and feet are barely hanging by toothpicks and are just about ready to fall off at any moment. I suppose it's just a sketch, so I ought to cut ye some slack, but...them toothpicks bothered me, so I felt compelled to comment on them tongue.gif . The rest looks cool, though.

Oh, and that's quite the loose interpretation of an aardvark wink.gif . Of course, the Loony Toon's Taz doesn't has little resemblance to a real tazmanian devil, either, so there ye go.

Posted by: Narratorway 3rd November 2005 05:51
He's weilding a broadsword and wearing a vest, so yeah...I'll hafta agree it's a pretty loose interpretation. And since the girl has no nose, mouth, or pupils to speak of, she's gotta be taken on faith as well. That's the point. I will admit, I don't like how her right arm came out though. Should be shorter and beefier in that respects, but eh...I'll fix it in post. tongue.gif

Here's something a lil different. Some more Count Your Sheep fanart. I liked how Katie and Laurie came out for the most part, but I don't like the clothing. Not very striking, and it's always been one of my biggest weaknesses. I just can't design for shit.

user posted image

This is fanart from an old little known Disney flick from the eighties called The Black Cauldron. Saw it only once on tv recently and it really struck me as one of those movies that really had potential if they took what was good (dark fantasy element) and ran with it. Instead, it's a pretty bad flick all around. Oh well...

Posted by: Rujuken 3rd November 2005 22:06
I vaguely remember the black cauldron thing. Very vaguely...but when I saw your pic it seemed familiar to me. Good job on that one.

I don't know much about the Count Your Sheep comic. The sheep and little girl are okay, but I think the tall girl is the best. I like her expression and the scarf. Her right foot kinda looks like a hoof instead of a shoe, though.

The Blob joke is pretty good. But I think you should've had Cyclops call him a fat bastard instead.

I have no idea who the girl with the sai is.

Posted by: Galsic 6th November 2005 13:59
The clothing on the sheep one looks pretty sensible to me; I'm not sure I would have done anything different. And there's just something about that lil sheep that tugs at me heart happy.gif .

BTW, I believe sai lady is Elektra, a Marvel comic book character, recently played by that weird-looking Alias chick in the movie adaption (Jennifer Garner, right?).

Posted by: Narratorway 6th November 2005 20:58
Here's some more Marvel Art. These guys are turning out to be pretty fun to mess around with. tongue.gif

Lol, uhhh, last I heard, ambrosia was out of Greek mythology. Since when was it a part of Norse mythology? Still, Thor's pained expression got a chuckle out of me, heh.

Apocalypse, huh? I can't say this is the most ambitious drawing I've seen from ye. It would of been kinda nice if he was shown displaying at least a little of the power that makes him such a badass because, well, I'm sure you're capable of that. As he is now, though, the only impression I'm getting from him is "Grrr, fear me." It's still a nifty drawing, though.

Fanart for a webcomic and a lil doodle animation for a competition called Animation Dance. The last one is the colored version of that sketch that I vaguely remember posting some where up near the top of this thread. I'll hafta check after I post this.

Edit
Yep. It's up there, but more like somewhere around the lower middle.

Posted by: Galsic 22nd November 2005 11:37
Ye know, I tried to let someone besides me comment, but...oops, heh. Anyhoo...

The Usagi Yojimbo one's pretty nifty, although I can't fathom why ol' Bullwinkle had to die. It just makes me wanna punch that silly rabbit in the face! laugh.gif

The emo one apparently went over me head, but it looks okay, too.

The rockin' Santa's pretty slick. Is that Flash? I can't tell...

Billy and Mandy, heh. Your depiction isn't their usual design, but it's otherwise pretty accurate, not that Billy and Mandy (or a lot of Cartoon Network's shows, for that matter) is all that artistically ambitious, but whatever, cool beans thumbup.gif .

Now where are the rest of the spectators? I can't be the only stroking your ego...er...praising your work here, hee hee.

I really love the Bone fanarts too, since I really loved the Bone comics.

That...is awe inspiring. Ignoring for a moment the added details you put in and the incredibly subtle shading, you put in elements that I never even considered. She looks dangerous with that look on her face. Like she'd have no problem conjuring up a spell that'll #%&$ you up. That just blows my mind to do that. I bow down ma'am.

Posted by: Hikaroo 11th December 2005 08:56
The only added details I really added were her hair, and that was on accident, but I thought it looked pretty and kept it.
I'm glad you like it though.

ROFL, NP! Best drawing ever!

Posted by: Galsic 4th January 2006 09:40
I must say that, personally, I generally like your sketches and line drawings more than your colored/finished products. I don't know...something just seems to get lost in the finishing process for me, but anyhoo, the Hulk...

Cute idea and I certainly like the pic for the most part, but...

#1: I don't think the Hulk's that articulate. He would probably be more like "Hulk no have roid rage! RAAAWWWRRR!!" Lol.

#2: Uhhh, what's with the his right fist? Looks like he's got some REALLY fat knuckles there.

Posted by: FabulousFreebird 4th January 2006 13:04
You've got some pretty good stuff. I also like Hikaroo's added details, you both have talent. I so wish I could draw. By the way, was that chick with the black hair and red outfit Electra, whom you described as a foreign superhero? I know you said you don't kiss 'n' tell so to speak, but I was jus' wonderin'.

Here's an update on some really old fanart. The kid on the left is the old, and the kid on the right is the new. I think they're about two years apart on when I drew them. They're both characters in this movie called http://www.julyfilms.com that I happened upon back when I first started school. It's the kinda movie I've always dreamed about making, but it looks like it's stuck in independent development hell. dry.gif

This is another smart ass doodle I did for the same thread as my previous post, with the following dialogue I added in:

Posted by: Narratorway 5th February 2006 03:15
I tend to draw with a purpose if I can. By that I mean, I draw with a preset plan of what I'm going to do. Typically those don't work out, but it seems the more I do the planned drawings what suck, I end up making the unplanned drawings what don't suck. Lately I haven't been able to draw anything decent one way or the other so I kinda just let it be. Then a couple days ago and grabbed a pen and paper and just draw poses without anything attached like I used to.

The other picture was the last sketches I remember doing before these recent ones. Fanart of a this kids show I got told of and a quasi-redesign of a character of mine.

Ha, yeah the Red Skull is pretty funny.

I thought the page covered in sketches was pretty cool looking when you take in the whole thing. The other one looks nice too, though I have no idea who the characters are. Makes me wish I could draw clothes as well as you can.

Been over a month since the last thing I drew, which is the last one I posted here, so I tried to get back into the habit. This new one came out pretty good, so...here it is. Then I did 'ol Chuck pulling some intense air guitar work.

Posted by: NeoEx-Death 15th April 2006 19:55

A bit late, but those two Joker pieces are fantastic, especially the more serious piece. I like the clumsy look of Link and the dark shading of that Lucky Charms cereal guy. I really was speechless at that knight riding bear piece. Good job.

God...I want your talent.

We need to fuse together like they do in Dragonball Z. We'd be unstoppable. xD

I like the newest one, I'm not sure what I'd do with his right hand, but the way that helmet is made to make room for his horns is awesome.

Posted by: Narratorway 23rd January 2007 09:30
I remember yer work chief. You'd be the teacher, I'd be the student no doubt about that.

Okay, this next bit was done based off'n a Frazetta painting. If the name don't ring a bell, think Conan the Barbarian paintings. First one was a straight out copy with no particular style in mind. Then I redid it and tried for the 'spumco' style created by the guy what made Ren 'n Stimpy. Don't think I quite hit the mark.

Sango is awesome! You should totally animate her throwing that Hiraikotsu. She's all tensed up for it, it would just be like, 5 more sketches to get it off the panel.

Might I also add... YEA VENTURE BROS!!! Do you draw for the show, cuz the boys are dead on!

Dirty blonde is funny.

Jesus is righteous (no pun intended tongue.gif )

And the spiderman shots are pretty good as well.

Awesome GH girls too, you should do more with that, maybe with some of the secret guitars (anybody looks good playing a battle axe...)

Never really get to watch TV anymore so I haven't seen more than a few episodes of Avatar. Love the motion depicted in the pic with the girl who has the water power. (I think she is the one that uses water.) And the animations are pretty sweet too. I need to learn how to do that.

The goth chick and Count Your Sheep are nice.

Your pictures always have a great sense of motion.

I was looking through some of this post's earlier pages and there were quite a few amazing pics. I saw a few that weren't in your usual style that were very impressive.

It's a very weird sensation when hearing someone talk about my 'style' of art, considering that when I first started posting work here, I had no style to call my own, I really didn't. Check it:

user posted image

One of my earliest bits of fanart I ever submitted here, so obviously it's poorly imitated anime like every other budding artist who ever posted on the internet. tongue.gif The progression from there to now was like my puberty...it wasn't even aware it had started until I was neck deep in it! I'm guess my point is it's kinda trippy for me, cause now I'm aware of this so-called 'style' and I have no idea where it came from. That's kinda disconcerting really...

But it's there so...y'know...there it is.

Anyway, a new month, a new theme. Public Domain characters: characters that aint copyrighted. I went with Red Riding Hood...as seen by American McGee. tongue.gif

You usually display a cartoon-ish animation kind of style (if there's a real name to this style, I probably don't know it : / ), so I can guess he's referring to the ones with a stronger comic book influence, like the mask Joker one on page 3.

Wow, 2 1/2 years and 5 pages later and you're still kickin' out some cool pics for this thread. And some of them seem so random, like the roller waitress chick, that it makes me giggle.

Posted by: Narratorway 17th May 2008 06:04
Yeah, the Joker one was actually done off of reference and the Hellgirl (yeah, it's supposed to be a chick tongue.gif) was me attempting a straight out comic style. I quickly learned it was not for me.

Alright, so if it seems like it's been awhile since I did any real worthwhile updates, it's not for lack of content...trust me! But the majority of the work during this year has been focused on a subject I doubt many here are familiar with, and they're mostly in-jokes anyway. So here's what's recent:

So...care to elaborate?

All my art up until late last year was hosted on servers of the school I used to go to. They never deleted my account, so I just kept using it. Then they shut it down without letting me know, so I lost it all. I found a new place to host and I just forgot to update the links.

As for Lemmy, I just don't think it's quite as good of a caricature as it could've been.

Haha, yeah, I was long aware them older drawings were gone. Last time I posted here, though, Lemmy was the only one that loaded.

I'd like to see the first one outlined, but that's just my own personal preference.

2nd one...Megaman X Maverick? Lol @ pizza theme tongue.gif .

I always wondered why Primm is so freaked out after smacking Phanna, but in the intervening years, I've had some real insights from an actual martial artist about it... it isn't like in the movies where you can just knock someone in the head and they are incapacitated for 30 mins, you can kill someone by hitting them hard enough, if you're a conditioned martial artist.

I guess the implication is that Mind-Controlled Phanna pushed the wrong button by talking about how "happy she and Dyluck are together," and Primm hauls off at her hard enough to endanger her life. The animation that plays doesn't actually show Primm use her equipped weapon, but she reacts immediately afterwards with an "Oh no what have I done" kind of reaction.
