The Airship is the lone track from Final Fantasy IV to take a top 5 seed, and does it as the last #1. It's quick and bright, and also somewhat short, repeating more often that similar tracks from other games. It's quite impressive to see that this track wasn't included last time but somehow managed to get a top of the line ranking to start off with now.
The lone entry from the first MMO, Ronfaure is likely the best known track in Final Fantasy XI due to its repeated inclusion in Distant Worlds setlists. This track is the theme for an elvish region of the world of Final Fantasy XI. |

Ronfaure is pretty nice, what a great relaxing atmosphere. I doubt it will win simply based on very few people here playing FFXI (myself included) but I like the vibes this gives me more than Airship.

I think as I mentioned in the first post, Ronfaure will pick up some votes at least based on how good it's performed at Distant Worlds. I never played XI either, but I've enjoyed hearing Ronfaure at DW. I have always loved FF4's soundtrack, pretty much from back to front, but Ronfaure is just a great piece, particularly if you listen all the way through as it builds on itself.

Wait, is the nomination for the FF4 or FF5 airship theme? The linked music track is the FF5 airship theme.

It's definitely FF4. I've fixed it. If you're using the Regalia site, it works as intended, it's just a consequence of me doing it manually in the forums.

Okay, then. Color me quite surprised...FF4's airship theme wasn't ever on my radar before, as I find it somewhat unimpressive. It vaguely references the main theme of the game, but is otherwise pretty short and lacks much impact during its short duration. To me, I'll be honest, it sounded a bit like filler -- I'd much prefer the actual overworld theme. The one noticeable accomplishment of this track is that it's actually short enough that short trips on the airship won't mean missing the bulk of the musical material in the track.
The beginning of Ronfaure sounds vaguely reminiscent of FF9's "Mountain Pass ~ Conde Petie", a track I know despite not having played FF9 thanks to me running into a website putting it on in MIDI form some years back. I've never heard it in Distant Worlds before (because I haven't listened to Distant Worlds stuff before, period), so this track is entirely new to me. Ronfaure seems tuneful and pleasant. There is a bit of an unexpected mood change from the dance-like first two-thirds of the track to a bridge-like section before bringing back the percussion. (Incidentally this means the upload doesn't give two full loops.) But I think this works in the track's favor, to keep it fresh, for someone who's listened all the way to that point. Ronfaure is on my radar thanks to Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call (which I'm down to play with anyone that has it!) It's a delightful tune, to be sure! So warm and made for wandering the plains!
