One-Winged Angel is one of those themes that you can use to help determine where a player first started getting into Final Fantasy. It laid the groundwork for many big battle themes after it, with an intro evoking a horror soundtrack followed by big drums and chanting in a foreign language. And the whole time you hear it, you're fighting a bizarre boss in some sort of otherworldly portal. What's not to like? OWA won a couple rounds in 2010 before narrowly losing out to the Aria.

Final Fantasy IV's epilogue track introduced SNES Final Fantasy gamers to the broad, sweeping overture style of closing out Final Fantasy games which would become standard in that era. It flows from uncertainty to a triumphant rearrangement medley of the game's themes, as we would notably see again in Final Fantasy VI.

Nice, two big epic end-game themes head to head this early. Epilogue has a lot of dead filler for me, but the hook at 1:44-4:30 is undeniably amazing in its own right. One-Winged Angel is also great, but it doesn't come together for me to be so memorable as I'm sure it does with others.

For me, it's a matter of context here, and FF4's end theme is just so upbeat and great, so keep sailing!

Wow, this is a dramatic matchup!

I want to vote for FF4's ending theme -- the "Epilogue" is basically the ENTIRE ending sequence, minus the Prelude theme that plays at the end, and it is quite impressive, going through a range of both emotions and musical themes, as well as introducing new material. I've seen it in-game and it's definitely very effective in covering both the epilogue and the credits.

I haven't personally seen FF7's final boss theme with myself at the helm of the game, but of course I've seen footage of the final battle, and I even heard this world-famous theme before I saw that. It's not as varied in musical content as FF4's ending themes, but it's definitely also a strong contender, and also yet another good example of a rich classical-like texture that Uematsu makes using FF7's oddly brass-heavy instrumentation. My only qualm about it is that a bit of the instrumentals in the middle/late part of the loop are a bit awkward.

My vote goes to FF4's Epilogue.

Honestly, there's maybe only one track in this competition that I would vote for over OWA, and Epilogue(FF4) ain't it. Not even close.

Tough call for me since young Greg thought One-Winged Angel is the best thing in music, whereas something about the classic nature of FFIV's Epilogue just hits me in the right spot. I've not actually beaten IV yet, but this just feels right. It gets my vote!
