Black Dream is the round-of-sixteen entry from CT that had to get past nothing but CT songs to get here - first To Far Away Times, and then Decisive Battle with Magus. You're Not Alone, on the other hand, took out the final boss theme from FF8 (The Extreme) and the opening theme from FF7.

Black Dream is a moody, dark track that plays, yes, during the game's final assault on the Black Omen (whenever you might feel like doing that in time).

The other #3 seed from Final Fantasy IX, You're Not Alone is another Distant Worlds favorite. Previously, it picked off a fairly easy mark in the Main Theme from Final Fantasy II before running aground against Forever Rachel. It plays during a time of great drama, and is itself rather dramatic with an instantly-recognizable melody that I catch myself humming quite frequently despite not having played the game in over a year.

I'm still not convinced by You're Not Alone. It's not bad; it's just not something I'd, say, want to stick in my own idea for a game.

On the other hand, Black Dream is such a track. Imagine if hell were not hot but were soullessly cold and unforgiving. That's where I'd use it.

My vote still goes to Black Dream.

You Are Not Alone sounds like the midi source file of the most badass power ballad this side of Fade to Black, but a midi file notheless. Had they just nutted up and put an actual goddamn guitar in there I prolly would've voted for it.

Black Dream is even more primitive and yet is constructed so well it sounds so much more cohesive. It's got that beautiful piano medley grooving through it that's jazzy af! No contest.
