I stumbled across this the other day, I think on Gizmodo or Lifehacker, maybe, and I've been proselytizing it in chat and offline ever since because it's a Very Cool Thing - it's a browser plugin that changes out the default new-tab functionality in your browser to a curated image from Google Earth. You won't want it if you really use the bookmarks or search bar in your new tabs on desktop, but I realized right away that I didn't really care that much about that.

If you're curious, you can check it out for Firefox ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ad...ew-from-google/ ) or Chrome ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/e...mangadcdofhnnoh ) and feel free to share some of your favorites here.

So far, the only ones I've seen that show places I've actually been are airports - I've gotten tabs that showed me the tarmac in both Chicago and Frankfurt. I've seen a lot of really striking images from the Middle East and Pacific islands, as well, and here's a neat one from a freight port in Spain, too: https://g.co/ev/2220

I don't think I will be downloading this app on my 6 year old laptop, but thanks for the tip. That sorta reminds me of the screensavers in Windows 10 when I lock my work computer at the end of the day. It will show some really beautiful landscapes and such.
