I think it should, and perhaps more background for the characters, and secret mini games and dungeons.

I really think it should. I'm not sure how it got a bad wrap, but the class systems is fantastic and the story is very engrossing. I had a blast with it and I'd love to see it remastered. :3

Won't happen, but it wouldn't be a bad idea. The story telling and character development was good for when the game was made, as was the battle system. Improve all of those and slap some shiny new graphics on the game and you'd have a nice piece of work.

I think it should get at least ds or psp remake. It would be remembered less for the slow loading times on psx. Also:Its really old, and it is the only old game that got no remake in the number series.Besides:Maybe more people will play it, and perhaps more people will like it, if the story gets a minor tweak.

I just don't think the story has enough going for it to capture the interest of anyone beyond the hardcore oldschool FF fans. Which, sad to say, isn't exactly the biggest group of people. I think FFV shows its age much more than FFIV or FFVI, which both have still-marketable stories. You can polish battle systems, graphics and sound, but you can't reinvent the what holds them all together - the plot and characters.

Besides, new doesn't equal better.Sure, ff5 lacks a story, and its characters are not as developed as the others, but it is all about the gameplay, improve the gameplay by adding new stuff, and maybe it will attract new fans, or SE can ruin yet another game, further ruining their dignity. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. On one hand, I'm a bit annoyed that the FF fanbase is largely dominated by story fans these days--at least, I think it is, based on their interest in the heavily narrative-driven and often movie-like newer FF games. On the other hand, as you say, the story is one of the two things that doesn't become dated the way things like graphics and gameplay innovations do, and many fans (myself notwithstanding) regard FFV's story as relatively weak. (Music is the other, and it doesn't seem that there are that many FFV music fans either, unfortunately.) -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros. I think it should it was a great game. It had a better class system than FF3 that received two handheld console versions of the remake DS and PSP. Not to mention the phone and tablet computer releases. Also it did have a good story. And more character story background? I think if you do all of the few side quests it gives enough of the background stories. Lastly if remade I think it should include the sequel Legend of the Crystals either on Blu-ray,DVD or combo pack as a bonus hopefully not pre-order bonus.
EDIT: Also the additional dungeons and Crystal Shards should be included. Plus maybe an artbook showing the great artwork from before FF concept art became primarily 3d and anime based. Amano did some beautiful illustrations best FF concept artwork came before 7. The GBA version is pretty expensive and not so easy to find (at least here), so I'd really enjoy a remake with updated graphics.

The iOS thing is cool, but since the DSi and 3DS no longer have a GBA port, it would be nice if they considered at least a DS version. Actually, with the way they're doing DLC now, a digital port of the original would be good enough for me.

Quote (Spooniest @ 22nd March 2013 20:19) Well, it's not actually a *remake* - just a port, which is substantially less than the face-lift FFIV DS received. With the news of an iOS port, I'm not exactly sure if there is a future for a FFV remake in the FFIV DS vein. It's been quite some time now since FFIV DS; if Square Enix had decided it was a good/financially viable route, one would've expected less time to pass before attempting the same with FFV. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Not at the moment. Why ? Because knowing Square these days they would Cellphone it. Maybe way back in 2007 or 2006 I would've said hell yes, but the moment it's hell no. -------------------- Top Three fave Final Fantasies Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy V [ GBA ] |

Which is, in fact, exactly what they did: http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/news/article/...yone-complains/ I think that circles around to a debate that's been going on for a while, whether there's any validity to a remake done for a mobile phone, or whether the only possible remake that is acceptable is something that brings an old game up to modern standards. Note: I'm not looking to debate it per se, just pointing out that it's definitely something that's debated a lot nowadays. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Define remake...?
I guess if you're talking about doing a game with modern-day production values using this story and system, I would totally buy that. But in a more general sense, the entire series could be done in a modern-day setting, you know, just re-release each of the games in the series with production values rivaling that of something like the latest Uncharted game, and we'd all go crazy for the games again, have a big nostalgia-fest, probably cry buckets of rain out of sentimentality, and our kids would be all like "hey this is kinda cool" and we'd all laugh unt haf a goot time. But it sure would cost a fortune... -------------------- X is blue. |
