So every time a new version of a game I love comes out on a new platform, the main thing I want to note is the differences, be it translation changes, font changes, graphics updates, anything!

I recently got FFIV:Complete for PSP, so I figured I'd point out anything noteworthy in case you guys are like me smile.gif

One thing that's really bothering me is saving. After you save, you have to hit X (to confirm I guess) or else you'll stay at the screen, where as in most Final Fantasies, when it says, "Save complete." You just hit O for cancel, and leave the screen.

You also can't dash with O, which seems more intuitive to me than the square button. Does that bother anyone else?

I LOVE the graphics update. It's true enough to the original style, while still keeping it cleaner and more illustrious than before. The spell animations look fantastic, since they're a little more like 3D versions of the animations I remember. The background-battle art is very nice, too! You can tell it's what they orginally were going for, except this time they have less graphics limitations. Palom and Porom look more individual in this one. I remember in the PSX version, I had trouble telling their sprites apart. I don't remember their appearance in the DS version, though.

Ok so, when they turn into the pig status effect, they each have different menu pictures! Soooo cute! Palom and Porom are little baby pigs! They all have the same pig sprite walking around, though.

A few names seem to have been changed, as I mentioned in chat. Octomamm is now appropriately Octomammoth.

I -think- the PSX version had this as well, but it has a bestiary that automatically updates in the menu, instead of in an "Extras" spot like in FFVI on PSX.

What about you guys? Have you noticed any cool differences? Is there anything you're curious of?

I'm telling you you're wrong.

I think the added bestiary was a really nice touch. I learned Cagnazzo is actually weak to ICE and not bolt. That's surprising.

I love everything about the graphics. You can even see the shadows of overhead clouds in some towns. And yeah, Palom and Porom you can finally tell apart. In the PSX and SNES versions, the only thing they had different were their color of clothes. And even that was hard to notice. Oh and Paladin Cecil actually looks COOL this time around. I always thought his sprite looked ugly before, but they finally got it right.

I like that everything has it's proper name, whether it be enemies, items, spells or weapons.

I also like that the GBA features are in the game, like the Cave of Trials, party swapping and the Lunar Ruins, since I never got the GBA version. So it's nice that I'll finally get to play through all that extra stuff.

Also, the character portraits in the battle menu and text boxes was a nice little touch.

I think this is the best version of the game yet. Even better than the DS version, which I find the 3D character models to be quite ugly. The backgrounds and stuff were good, but the character models just looked bad.

Right now, I'm only up to the Sealed Cave. And after this is done, I get to play The After Years, which should be fun. I have it on the Wii, but it should be better here on the PSP with the upgraded graphics and stuff.

Not sure if it changes during battle. I know bolt is needed simply to break the water barrier, but I guess maybe it's not his official weakness.

The thing you asked in spoilers isn't true, Blinge smile.gif

I can't get over how much I like the art! The summons graphics animation is pretty cool, and a lot of subtle background effects are just awesome.

They tweaked a little dialogue that I noticed from PSX version, though the gist is the same. For instance,

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
when Rydia comes back from the land of the summons makes a comment in the PSX version saying something like, "I thought you looked a little different" after Rydia explained about time passing differently. In this version, I think Cecil brings it up, though Rosa still says something. But this time, her comment is more like, "I see."

The frog in the dancing trio in Mythril says, "You just got served!" now. I thought that was funny. It's nice that they updated the text to still be hip, lol.
Also, I remember in the PSX ones they referred to themselves as a name that parodied boy band groups like the Backstreet Boys, and that name's been changed [I'll try and remember what it is now].

This is a pretty dumb change, and I"m sure there are more like it, but I was on the CoN FFIV walkthrough while at this fight so I noticed. During the Magus Sisters' fight, the long, slender sister's pink shoe doesn't go up as high, lol. No idea why that was changed.

I dunno if this has always been this way, but when the monsters are confused and you do an attack like Kick, which doesn't target a specific monster, for some reason it doesn't break their confusion. I didn't remember that before.

I noticed earlier while playing through the Giant of Babil, the machine enemies get confused when you use a bolt spell on them. Only it's a little different from a normal confuse spell. They don't turn around and it isn't broken if you attack them (though they can still hit you as well as their allies). Unless I just never noticed it before, that wasn't in the SNES or PSX versions.

Just put that in spoilers, since the location I named could perhaps spoil a little part of the plot if you think about it.

I also noticed the music seems to lag a short bit sometimes. Like you go into one location and the music won't start for like 2-3 seconds later. That's no big deal though.
