Who are the three characters you use the most in ff7 and why. Mine are Cloud, Barret, and Cid.

Cloud - he is manditory, but why would you want to get rid of him .

Barret- I love his final limit break catastrophe. It's very powerful and hits the enemy about 16 times. Never understood how he could equip the atomic scissors on his other arm though .

Cid - He's a pimp . Who could hate a guy with an awsome attitude like that. Plus he uses his own missles from his ship to attack his enemies. He's my hero.

As a rule, I just go with whoever has the lowest level.

But right now, I'm trying to level up Materia, so I have:

Cloud
Apocalypse
Escort Guard

Vincent
Long Barrel R
Wizard Bracelet

Cid
Scimitar
Dragon armlet

The three characters that you've stated are indeed the best trio there is in my opinion. I've only played through the game once. And the three characters I used at that time was Cloud - Red - Cid. When I look back at my team, I must say that they did great... but Red's final limit (Cosmo Memory) was a disappointment. It was cool and all, but it didn't cause any great damage. So if I could turn,
turn back the hands of time. Then my trio would have been: Cloud - Barret - Cid.

I've played through twice, doing everything I could each time, here are my main parties in each:
1st time:
Cid <---t'was HIS airship
Cloud <--mandatory
Yuffie <---screwed up ninja, with decent stats
2nd time:
Tifa <--liked the linked limits
Yuffie <--liked her 2nd level 3 limit
Cloud <--once again, mandatory

You mean the ones you use the most? Not the ones you like the most for the personality? Okay...

That would have to be Cloud, Barrett and Tifa. Cloud is no wonder why he is there. Can you remove him at all? Nope.
Barrett, well he's cool and has good attacks and limits. Good long range attack too.
Tifa, my favourite in the game, so I feel I have to use her. I know there are better attackers than her, but I just can't let her go.

Cloud: I only leave him in cos i ahev to.

yeah, i get all sorts of hell for using Aeris. But she is one of my favorite characters of all time. i really wish you could use four characters. real hard decision on whether to use Cid or Aeris. but oh well

Hmm. Well, I ended up keeping certain members of the party active more often than others, only because those others (Yuffie, Cid, and Vincent) joined the party at a considerably higher level than the rest of the members, and I wanted everybody else to catch up. Then, near the end of the game, I stopped worrying about levels and started worrying about Limit Breaks. Barret was the first character who got all seven of his Limit Breaks, so I must have used him quite a lot. But in my final fight against Sephiroth, my main party consisted of Cloud, Yuffie, and Cid.

First time I played through: Aeris was a favorite, especially with Tifa and Cloud, but since I happened to level up Nanaki and Barret a bunch while climbing Gaea's Cliff, I teamed them with Cloud for the last battle.

Second time through: I simply played so much that I used the heck out of everyone. Once a couple characters reach Level 99 I feel like I have to share the wealth. However, I tended to not favor Cait Sith, Yuffie, and Vincent as much as the others. My main party for the last battle was Cloud, Nanaki, and Tifa.

P.S. (Random note regarding DP's post) I too had a ball levelling up materia equipped on Cloud's Apocalypse while in the North Cave.

cid he is awsome funny guy who swears a lot

barret/tifa i cant choose between the two both are really good

*mainly all these characters are chosen because thy have the best final limits
all of thier limits attack multiple time for great damage
