Quote (Caesar @ 5th December 2004 13:32) In my all-Thief game, I just named my characters Num1, Num2, Num3, and Num4. In previous playthroughs, I would either name the characters after my siblings and I (since there are four kids in my family...very convenient), or I would just pick random names (e.g. Jed). hey, I name characters after me and my 3 siblings too! I have 2 sisters, so they are usually the BM and WM (gotta pick BM as a girl, o well. It IS more ambiguous than some of the other classes) and me and my brother are the fighters. This DoS game though I figured I'd go along for the ride... Monk - Cecil Monk - Cain Wm - Rosa Bm - me heh, glad I made me the Bm, he kicks a$$! Can kill an entire party of enemies in one hit almost all the time. And he's my most effective runner (highest luck). I've also thought up just random names, like for my four thief game: Jack Tom Mark me Jack is kinda a thief name. for my one thief game.... HIT! DEAD KOed me and in my one knight game (my first FF1 playthrough) me num2 num3 num4 (same as you again - or similar at least) lol! This post has been edited by FF1_Thief on 29th December 2004 00:15 |

I named my four light warriors in Dawn of Souls partly from other FF characters, and partly from my own imagination.
Warrior: Alex (my fiance) Thief: Daryl (named after Setzer's lost love from FFVI. I always felt so sorry for him) White Mage: Terra (do you need to ask? My favorite FF female ever) Black Mage: NyƩre (Quenya for Sorrow. I guess my Tolkien fanaticism shows...I'd go with more elf-themed names if I had more room for names) |

Btw, how is your all-thief game going? I've lost interest sorta once I realized that four ninjas can kill basically anything with no problem (temper + power gauntlet = happy ninja). There is one key difference to the naming process however...my Num1, Num2, Num3, and Num4's were all alive and kicking. I felt like an absolute imbecile when I was playing 'cause I could be heard cheering, "Yes! Good hit, Number 2!" or "Haha...Number 4 is invincible". I have come to a conclusion, though. In both my SCC games (WM and Thief), in which I named the characters Num1-4, Num1 is always the weakest (i.e. weakest stats, low HP...basically secondary/tertiary shield) and Num2/4 are the damage-dealers and primary shields, respectively. -------------------- Is PJ |

On my old NES:
Fighter: Bull Fighter: Jack White Mage: Rose Black Mage: Moon These names just seemed to happen... the only significance I can think of is that one of my dogs' names was Rosie. Now on my GBA: Fighter: Julius Thief: Connor Red Mage: Murphy Monk: Citan Those names come from two of my favorite movies and one of my favorite games. Julius from Pulp Fiction, Connor and Murphy from The Boondock Saints, and Citan from Xenogears. -------------------- |

I haven't played my 4 thieves in a few days. I got kinda bored wiht it. I think I'm in the low 30's level-wise and about to go into the Temple of Fiends past. I haven't done class change, and I expect that I will have to up my levels to 50 before I'll be able to beat it.

I usually have trouble with names in FF1 (only 4 goddam letters!)
However, my all-fighter exterminator squad of heros (yes, four fighters) gets names from the following list: Josh , Neal, Tids/Cat, DelS, Rube, TwFr, Fenx, D.P. , Z.H. Dunno why -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. I also like naming my characters after FF characters.
Fighter/Knight- Cecil or Cloud, usually Cecil Monk/Master-Sabin or Yang or Zell or Amarant Thief/Ninja- Edge or Locke or Zidane White Mage/Wizard- Garnet or Rosa or Porom Black Mage/Wizard- Vivi. Who else? Red Mage/Wizard- I just usually pick one randomly, because the RM is a jack of all trades. But in my current party: Knight: Cecil Ninja: Locke White Wizard- Garnet Black Wizard- Vivi -------------------- Dang. I always do something different. Like the time my party was a bunch of lesbians lol.
So far my favorite names I've used were Aidan, Drake, Zendel, and Egil, which were all taken from main characters in my novels. The name Aidan originated because the character was an Aries and therefore a fire elemental and the name Aidan means "little fire". The way he acts throughout the novel I can't think of a more perfect name, and I love the sound of Aidan. Drake originated because Aidan had a best friend who was a dragon knight and I wanted a name that had the connotation of a dragon. He was originally called Ryuu, but then I changed it to Drake because Ryuu seemed too cliche and the other characters had more Celtic sounding names. Zendel is from a different novel than Aidan and Drake and my little brother came up with the name. Originally it had no meaning, but when I wrote it out in runes the runes described him perfectly. Quite a coincidence. The name Egil was used in my 2002 nanowrimo novel The Crystal Gate, which totally sucked lol. I ripped it off from the title of an Icelandic saga when I couldn't think of a name for a random guy who ended up becoming one of the main characters. I mostly use those 4 names in FF3, so they're always changing classes. I like to have Aidan as a fighter and Drake as a dragoon since that's what they are in the novel. Zendel is technically a paladin, but he usually ends up being a mage. And Egil was originally just a high school weirdo lol. Sorry, I like ranting about my novels... |

First time I played through, I had read the Nintendo Power strategy guide for FFI about 4 times over. So I took the names they had...
Fighter/Knight - BORS Black Belt/Master - LEE White Mage/White Wizard - JED Black Mage/Black Wizard - TOTH Then I played again, same characters, and named myself... KAEL - Attempt to make a warrio-like name with a K, which I have a fascination with. SHIN - Thinking of some Japanese name... closest thing I could come up with. KARA - Always liked that name. ZEPH - For some reason, he minded me of the Zephyr's Cape in FF6 When Origins came around... Keiran Tyris Kara - Yes, I still like this name. Dean Don't ask where I got the rest from... you'd think I was crazy or something and petition to put me in a ward. It's sooo fun to own two versions of a game... guess I have to go buy a GBA and get DoS now? ; I'll prolly end up shelling out more money anyway. Whoops... almost forgot the best naming scheme of all... AAAA AAAA AAAA AAAA I got myself past Garland before I got too dizzy. This post has been edited by RoyalKnight on 25th January 2005 14:06 |

my usual names read as follows
Fighter/Knight: Nest (a tribute to Nester, the red haired nintendo power mascot from way back in the day) Black Belt/Master: Howa (a tribute to Nesters bow-tie wearing friend/rival Howard) Thief/Ninja: usually an abreviated name with a J in it, like T.J. or B.J. etc. (what can I say I'm lazy) Red Mage/Wizard: Jack (of all trades ) White Mage/Wizard: Wyte (creative? no, applicable?... I dunno, possibly) Black Mage/Wizard: Blak (betcha didn't see that comming ) EDIT: when I play SCC's I usually make the other 3 chars in my group black mages named 'DEAD' and kill them off before they can get any experiance This post has been edited by Generic Fighter #382 on 30th January 2005 10:16 -------------------- Club Sandwiches. Warrior - Ailith
Theif - Eryn White Mage - Avalon Black Mage - Charon Ailith means seasoned warrior (perfectly fitting), Eryn is the fury, and Charon is the name of the ferry man of the underworld (plus is sounds a bit fire oriented) |

I usually stick them with names from other FF's that I associate with each class (although I know some of these might be a little off).
Thief - either "Zidane" or "Locke" White Mage - "Dagger" or "Yuna" Black Mage - "Vivi" Fighter - "Edgar," "Tidus," or "Auron." XD Red Mage - "Freya" (well, depsite the fact she's not a red mage, she still looks like one!!) |

Hmm, really? That's interesting. I did the same kind of thing with my characters, but I came up with my Red Mage's name by myself though. I named my Warrior Cloud, my Monk Yang, my Theif Zidane, And my Red Mage Sodeus.

These are the names I always use
Warrior - Silver (Always liked that name from the PC game Silver...) Monk - Lux (Means light, I think its Latin I'll have to look that up) White Mage - Eir (A Norse Goddess who could heal and revive) Black Mage - Magus (I can't remember which religious history but he/she was a very powerful sorcerer) If I had the NES and you can only use four letters then probably Warrior - Gold Monk - Lux White Mage - Eir Black Mage - Mage ... I name group members after my friends who i think thier personallities match the best. So a usuall party is named as follows:
Warrior: Dustin (Me ) Thief: Brandon (my brother(usually found lurking about the scrapyards stealing parts for his car, truck, or other projects)) White Mage: Wendy (my ex-girlfriend who was a youth minister) Black Mage: Jake (one of my best friends who studies magic and the occult) This post has been edited by ramza_beoulve on 22nd December 2006 17:22 -------------------- A hero is somone who steps up when everyone else backs down.
