Hey CoN fans! I've recently started playing ff1 again for the GBA and I can't seem to find the Death Machine boss that is supposedly super hard. I've tried getting into a random battle but it doesn't seem to work. I was wondering if there is anything special you have to do to face him.

He's pretty much only in the uppermost two floors of the tower where you fight Tiamat. Work your way up to Tiamat's room and only go for random battles there, if you aren't doing that already. Other than that, cross your fingers. It's a low encounter rate, probably 1/64 or something.

Ok thx Lazlow! That is really helpful cause I was getting bored of doing random battles so I thought I was doing something wrong. 1/64 is a pretty tough probality though so I'll probaly be at this for a while. I'll let you know if I find him.

Huh. 1/64 chances?
Weird. Everytime i fought him he usually appeared after the second or third encounter. And he really isnt that hard. The ff5 dungeon of him is alot harder -------------------- Kefka's Message of the week: Get off your couch noobs and get my new game Dissidia 012 |

1/64 is indeed the right probability, although it does seem extremely based on your circumstances. Whenever I am crossing that bridge low on health and hoping I never see him, he pops up and shows me the damage. Whenever I go there planning on taking him out, though, he never wants to come out and play. Just stick with it, he'll show up soon enough.
Note that since DoS is marginally easier than the original NES version, Death Machine is a pushover. He can no longer command the fear he did in the first generation. -------------------- Is PJ |

Ok thx for all the advice avid fans of ff the original. Right after i thought I could'nt find him i stayed at it for another 30 minutes and boom there he was. The walkthrough I had made it sound like he was impossible so I almost crapped my pants in anticipation for the fight. Then I beat him in like 5 turns and was like...Wow

Well, don't forget what Caesar said. The DoS version is a joke compared to the original!

Is Death Machine = Warmech? Because I haven't heard of "Death Machine" (or "DETHMECH") before, but this sounds way too much like it.

Yes, Death Machine is how Warmech got translated for the GBA and PSP versions of FF I.
EDIT: Wait, I lied. The PSP version actually went back to the name Warmech. I'm not sure why, but it's the truth. This post has been edited by laszlow on 22nd February 2009 07:01 -------------------- |

I'm pretty sure the difficulty is exactly the same. The visuals on PSP are much prettier, and there's a new hidden dungeon that's only on the PSP version. But Dawn of Souls for the GBA has two games, while the PSP versions are separate.
