Either four white mages or four black mages, pretty obvious isn't it?
Welcome to CoN by the way. |

I've hear monks/black belts is pretty horrible, so I was wondering what the worst was.
And thanks. I'm been lurking around for a while and finally broke down and made an account... -------------------- How are you today? |

Thief Single Character Challenge, no class change.
Full thief party with no class change following. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. 4 White Mages, undoubtedly.
4 Black Mages would be next. Bosses fall almost instantly, except for magic-resistant types like Astos, Kary, and Tiamat, but random encounters are difficult to deal with. Repeated inn trips make the grind even longer. I've won with 4 of all the other classes. Black Belts need no gear money after Elfland, so you build up a stock of 99 heal potions pretty fast and end up needing them. It's an odd little rotation game once the potions run low, as the people in the back move to the front of the formation to protect the injured. -------------------- "Getting upset over a trifle would indeed be unmannerly." -Afra to Damia |

I love the Monk class, I'm currently doing an all Monk challenge myself, finding it really easy

I'd have to say four White Mages. I've tried several challenge teams, beaten the game with a few of them, just didn't have the time for some of them, but four white mages... nothing compares to the torment of that team. In fact, I still haven't gotten past the water temple with them.

yeah, definetly all WM, an all BM game was pretty easy just costly because of the magic and potions you need to buy, and the all theif game is fairly dsifficult without a class change but no where neer as hard as the WM game, an all BB game is the cheapest in terms of equipment so you can focus on buying potions and it's pretty easy, all RM is actually more difficult than you'd expect about as difficult as the all thief game, and of course, while exspensive the all fighter game is by far the easiest
so like most have already said the all WM game is the hardest by far |

If you're going for insane challenges, I believe that White Mage/White Wizard solo is probably the one that sounds impossible. I am looking to try a challenge, particularly a single class challenge. Anyone have any ideas? I've been used to having a party with at least a White Mage and a Fighter so nothing too difficult. The only thing that annoys me about this game is the ridiculous encounter rate.

Four WM's is the hardest full party - and it's hardly any fun to play as either. That is, unless you have a strange obsession with hitting things with your staff/hammer.

WMs would be the hardest because you could heal yourself but you couldn't attack so basicly your whole party's worthless.

I've never done a party challenge or a SCC, but I remember extensive discussions on it back when I used to visit the GameFAQs message boards.
From what I've read, the White Mage one tends to be fairly popular because it's the "obvious" one. But, for a long time, there was agreement that an all Thief party with no class change is literally impossible to do. The Thief doesn't excel at anything except running, which is fine when exploring, but will completely screw you over when it's time for a boss. He's not really useful until the class change, and if you're doing a no class change challenge, then you're more or less not going to get anywhere. No one on the GameFAQs boards thought it could be done until one guy did it and explained how. Then a bunch of people jumped on it. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

i would have to say either 4 white mages, because they cant deal damage at all (expression), or 4 monks because they only do damage, they dont have the best defence and they learn no magic whatever

The only time I actually fought the last boss in this game was with 4 monks/masters. (GBA version seems important to mention..) The items that you can use to cast spells are really effective for taking care of multi-monster random encounters.
After the 4 monks/masters, I tried at a solo Red Mage game... but got tired of it, and stopped playing. I'd definitely like to finish that up, but... there's other Final Fantasies begging for attention. |
