I am currently working on a hack and I am trying to whittle the magic down some so that I can make a new sets of magic.

I would like to cut the magic down to half so that there could be Soul Magic and Ki Magic.

At the very least, I wanna cut out 2 levels worth of each type of magic.

You're being very vague- you don't relate the topic title to what you said in the topic itself. Anyway, I'll go through magic basics:

There is White Magic and Black Magic. There are 8 levels in each, and 4 spells in each level (Except for tthe level 8, I think). A mage can only learn three spells from each level.
