Oh, yes, the Earth still exists, and so does basketball, and so does March. So it's time to play.

We want people to play even if they don't care about sports. So spare me your posts about "what game is this? Does it have a ball?" it doesn't matter. The fun is in the guessing. Our provider, ESPN, will let you create an account with social media, and it will help you make picks any time you want, so you can put in as much or as little work as you feel like. If you run into problems, feel free to ask questions in here or in chat.

You can make automatic picks any time, though they will be boring picks. So you can sign up now, click a button, and forget about it if you want. Or you can click the button and come back later to make "better" picks. We will know what teams are in the bracket on March 14, at around 5pm Eastern time. The games start this year on March 19, but brackets may not lock until just before noon on March 19 - we're still waiting on confirmation from ESPN on that.

Again, the best time to make picks is between the evening on March 14 and midday on March 19, so plan on doing it within that window. If you sign up ASAP, I'll remind you via email, social media posts, and in this thread.

Hope to see you playing!

"Hello, my name is 'Pepperidge Farm remembers', and my bracket is titled LeviathanMist."

I feel like this will be the year we will finally see a 12-seed or lower in the final four. Let's hope it's Oregon.

EDIT: It looks like Oregon is in better shape than I thought. Last year they were kind of underwhelming, so I didn't expect much and haven't been following them. You know who my champ is going to be.

Ha ha, that's what I get for doing things too fast.

Wait Illinois is good again? Shows how much I have paid attention this year. AKA none.

I really really lost my sports kicks since the pandemic started. Following sports was a huge part of my life, plus fantasy. This year, it just all melted away. I switched from listening to 670 the Score every day, to educational podcasts for all my car rides and free listening time. I loosely followed the Cubs mediocre nothing-job, and loosely followed the NFL this year for Touchdown Tommy to the Super Bowl, but other than that? It's been a lot of nada.

Let's finish it this time Illini.

Not as good as the '05 team but pretty close. It's hard to compare generations that far apart, but I would say they have every bit of the potential that the Flyin' Illini group did, possibly more.

Brackets are now unlocked and picks can be made until just before noon Eastern on Thursday the 18th. I'll work on rounding up more players before then.

I have very little clue what's going on this year. I expect significantly more upsets than usual. My bracket is "Tunnel Armor".

Thrilled to announce that while I know absolutely nothing about NCAA basketball this year (who's kidding, did I ever?), my bracket is in as Doc DP's Good-Time Elixir.

So I had intended on filling out my bracket yesterday, but after I got my COVID shot, I ended up sleeping for 24 hours straight out of sheer fatigue. I wish it didn't open on the first work day and close on the last work day, that's not even fair for people who work a lot. I even had Friday off work but I just had no energy.

There are some every year. Believe me, nobody's more disappointed than me. But at least I was supporting my alma mater.

So while my bracket is officially toast with IL's loss, it was not in vein. I was rooting full on for Loyola, which is my Dad's alma mater.

I was very happy for their win, so all is fine by me. No additional trophies to add this year, but go Loyola the rest of the way!

Well, that Baylor win definitely shook things up. Only one person had Baylor to win it all, and that was Super_Moogle. That unique pick was enough to stuff him at the top of the heap at the end. Second place went to Death_Penalty, and third to Tidu.

I just noticed that I don't have any award images made for this, so there's a good chance you guys will be waiting a while to get them on your profiles, lol.

Next up in sports games, if there's enough interest, would probably be the European Cup soccer tournament, rescheduled from last summer to this summer.

I'm sure you just haven't seen the right threads. But yes, I spent the first 24 years of my life in Illinois and am an '01 alumnus of UC. Full allowance to be one of the many pained supporters of their athletics department.
