I made a mod for StarCraft based on FFVI and Chrono Trigger...not exactly what you're looking for, and unfortunately, the site that has it is under heavy remodeling.

Masterzed, check your PM box...
I agree, those links are nice...the text mods are pretty interesting (I got a good laugh out of the bagel one,) most of the graphics is easy to edit and give some interesting results, etc. It'll be nice to see more map mods... |

I had a complete remake of the game underway a while ago, but I left the rom hacking community last winter and haven't worked on it since. It's a shame though, I had most of the town/dungeon map format cracked, even, as well as a solid amount of animation script data. Maybe I'll work on it again if I can get out of the depression I'm currently in (though Endless Saga is my priority.)
In the meantime, here are a few screenshots. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

You'll find a lot of stuff at Zophar's domain. How much of it is good I'm not sure, but they look interesting. If you're looking for a more difficult version of the game, try my Expert Version 2.

I really like Silver Lance's SS's, it makes me impatient for the mod like that to come out

I, too, had a full-scale remake of the game, but due to the lack of spriters willing to help me, I was unable to complete it. I won't even bother posting screenshots. If you're interesting, just go into the "My Creations" forum and do a search for "Ideas for my hack?". There's an 18-page thread or something with screenshots and progress from my hack awhile ago. Feel free to browse. If you really want me to, I'll send over what I have done as of now.

Quote (Retribution @ 11th May 2005 17:09) I really like Silver Lance's SS's, it makes me impatient for the mod like that to come out To be frank and honest, apart from my game (gratuitous self-advertisement contained in sig ) I have very little to do at home nowadays, and am considering resuming my ROM-hacking. A post on the boards about character slots got me digging through my old notes and tearing apart an assembly dump for answers; quite a thrill. I miss that. So hey, maybe I'll complete the hack. My priority is my game, of course, but a little side-project wouldn't hurt. Being so damned close to figuring out how maps are stored (read: there, and missing just one tiny detail about pointers to preassembled tile "chunks") and having most of the animation scripts worked out make me feel like I have very unfinished business waiting to be worked out. And I hate unfinished business. >"< -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Almost forgot...
http://www.geocities.com/runelancer/junk/events01.zip The first event hack I've ever written, with a few custom sprites. I'm mostly messing around with this one, and past the intro it stops working properly. ;P Made about two years ago. http://www.geocities.com/runelancer/junk/events02.zip A little newer. I was working on a total remake with some people and made this as a proof of concept hack about a year ago. A little buggy and full of inside jokes (and I later found out stuff about the palette that caused problems in battles :x ) but essentially a one-dungeon game with altered characters, enemies, and events. I wish I could find my testbed ROM where I had edited the Narshe beginner's room. I had a fun little minigame where you ran around talking to people, and if you did it in the order they told you (messing up meant getting yelled at and starting over), your character turned into a catgirl. Fun times! Edit: Unzip the file before complaining that the emulator won't patch it.
