I posted about this in the news post for the new section, but has anyone else picked up the Steam version yet, that came out a few months back? I highly recommend it over emulating the original if you are in the mood to play it again or for the first time. They haven't up-res'd the entire game (at least not yet - I hold out vain hope), but the parts that they have done have made it far easier to play. The addition of the inline "cheat" engine for things like fast-forward, no-encounter, and the like, have made it far more appealing for people who just want to experience the story, as well. Though I should say, one minor annoyance is that if you are using the fast-forward feature and you stumble into an FMV, you can't turn it off until the FMV is over.

In any event, I'm not sure I'd buy it at full price right now if you haven't played it before, but as stated in the other thread, keep an eye out for it on sale, IMO. Worth checking out!

Thanks for the info on this version!

I'm a bit hesitant to pick up yet one more thing when I already have too many things on my backlog, but this game will certainly be on my...uh, shortlist for the shortlist.

Unfortunately, dat interface is a solid dealbreaker. Even if it's functional it is futt-bucking ugly and it's not exactly something you don't see very often.

Yeah, I did mention that in my other post but forgot to in here, didn't I. I found it more appealing once I turned it blue to look a bit more like the original, but it is too large, too clunky, and too generic (going with the bland, large sans-serif fonts common to the mobile remakes) to be appealing. And, it covers too much of the screen. I'd love to see them patch that out or make it more customizable, but I won't hold my breath.

Not a dealbreaker for me, but I get it.
