Did anyone else see it? I saw it this weekend and really liked it.

I don't play the games (they aren't the type of game I like) or follow the show, but I knew just enough about it going in for it to make sense.

My daughter is pretty excited to see it, but we prioritized seeing Endgame first. We will probably wait until it's available for streaming through our satellite service at home to check it out. There are too many movies to see this year. smile.gif

I too have no investment in the franchise, but gave it a go out of curiosity. I liked it. Didn't love it. Surprised how few Pokemon actually factor into the plot. It has a 'twist' villain that's so obvious, I can't tell if they rushed through the reveal on purpose or not. Whatever. The plot's stupid and doesn't matter.

What matters is Smith and Reynold's on screen chemistry and it's there. While it's not full on Pikapool, it's basically impossible not to shake the sense of familiarity with Reynold's performance, but having Smith as the constant straight man gives it a different vibe and he bounces off of Reynold's with aplomb...which is even more impressive when you consider Reynolds isn't even there.

I am a huge Pokemon fan.

I don't think they could have done a better job with what they did. I have watched it a few times already. Very well-paced and entertaining.

4.5/5

I still haven't seen this, but I've been hearing that this movie is one of those movies that people expected to suck but turned out well.
