At least I think this strategy is better than the one in the walkthrough.

Here is what I have used:

Job: Mimic - I guess this is the most important role in this fight, so you might want to try multiple of this setups
Abilities: X-Magic, White, Time
Equipment:
Weapon - Whatever you want, doesn't matter here at all. Magic Power ups might be useful here.
Shield: Ice/Aegis Shield - To block Shinryu's very strong snowstorm attack which hits all of your characters
Head: Genji Helmet - Alternative: Gold Hairpin (never tried), since this character will use A LOT of his mana - I sometimes had to give him one Elixir during the battle
Body: Crystal Armour
Relict: Coral Ring - You need this one to survive the deadly tidal wave attack at the beginning of the fight.

Job: Bare
Abilities: Dance, Throw (You can easily exchange one of it of course, those aren't such important)
Equipment:
Weapon - Strato
Shield: Ice/Aegis Shield
Head: Ribbon
Body: Rainbow
Relict: Coral Ring

Job: Bare
Abilities: X-Fight, Call
Equipment:
Weapon - Masamune
Shield: Ice/Aegis Shield
Head: Ribbon
Body: Rainbow
Relict: Coral Ring

Job: Bare
Abilites: X-Magic, Black
Equipment:
Weapon - Enhancer - Maybe BloodSword/Wizard Rod are better for a mage, but this is what I had. Stuff for magic power should be the best here.
Shield: Ice/Aegis Shield
Head: Ribbon
Body: Rainbow
Relict: Coral Ring

Ok, battle should go like this one:
Call - Golem (I am not even sure if this blocks Shinryus attack at least once, and he doesn't attack such often physically, so this one is optional)
Mimic uses now: X - Magic - Haste2 & Quick
X - Magic - Shell x 4 (do they even help against this dude?)/ healing with cure 3 if necessary now

Use dance to inflict very nice damage with Sword Dance - Or throw magic shurikens which dealt in my case also a damage of 8000 points

X-Fight

X-Magic: Flare x2

X-Magic: Dispel, Arise or Cure3, whatever is necessary + Quick
X-Magic: Now cast what you need else. If you don't need to heal or revive anyone and Shinryu isn't in Guardian status -> Meteo as often you can cast it

That's it mostly. I won like 4 of 5 battles with this tactic

Improvements: Maybe the best damage can be dealt by everyone being a mimic (you unfortunally won't be able to equip ribbons then, so you might get "olded"), position 2, 3 and 4 the X-Magic / Redx2 command ability with Time and maybe also black. Guess what now? Just cast X-Magic - Flare/Meteo, Quick, X-Magic, Flare/Meteo x4
Considering that my Flare attacks dealt like 5000 damage, he might could be dead in 2-3 turns (he has actually 55500 HP, so...?
A other nice idea could be equipping 3 of 4 people with Dragon Lances, X-Fight/Sshot and time magic for Quick spell.

Hints: You might don't have all the weapons above, so you might want to exchange some. The most important notes here are that you NEVER select holy elemental weapons like the Excalibur, Masamune or Holy Lance since those will heal Shinryu and NEVER 2-handed weapons like bows since you really need the shields.

Ideas, thoughts, other suggestions about this guide?

Isn't this one also worthy enough to add it to the walkthrough then?

OK, I thing the last one works even much better.

But I have to correct the topic title, the other way might be still easier. But it can suck pretty much to get all the Dragon Lances, so this one might be amore comfortable way to kill him.

The best strategy I've heard is to exploit its weakness to Berserk for fun and profit.
