question on the range of ninja's throw ability

When I set my monk with ninja's 'throw' ability as a secondary skill, the range is limited to three, yet I recall once when an enemy monk had a range of six when throwing a ninja edge.
I tried manipulating various things, but nothing seemed to increase the range of my monk's 'throw' ability. are there certain conditions to extending the range of 'throw' when using it as a secondary skill?

Throw's range is equal to the character's Move stat.

ahh, that solves everything. many thanks. now the only question is whether move +3 and a throw range of 6 is worth the the trade for teleport ...

p.s. - is the move stat item inclusive when calculating throw range?

Yes it is.

And also, I always give all of my male characters Move+3 instead of Teleport. The guaranteed distance is much better than the possibility of failure, and few maps have topography complicated enough to make heights a serious problem.
